Replaced rear calipers + Pads & Rotors now stuck

This seems like an easy enough issue to solve but i don't know how to fix it. I just replaced the rear caliper + pads + rotor but now the pads seem to be dragging. It was a bit tough to get the caliper over the pads + shims but i think if i removed the shims it wouldn't drag.

The car is still up on stands but i'm wondering what the issue is before i put it back down. I just pumped the pedal a couple times and it's really hard to turn it now.

Did u bleed the calipers and push back in the piston right....it may have something to do with the hand brake

I didn't bleed the calipers yet but i still don't see how that could be the issue . Could it be the parking brake? It's not on so that's why i ruled that out. Maybe if i give it a drive, i'll go away?

How easily is the caliper supposed to slide back over the new pads anyways?

if u didnt bleed them theyll still have the same pressure from when the pad was worn down wont it? and howd u put the piston back in? i believe the back one u have to turn in.

Yeah, the caliper piston was already turned back in. I tried turning them in further to ensure they were the furthest back as possible. Turns out when i started it up, i think it released a lot of the pressure so it appears to be ok. The pad is mushy now though indicating i need to have them bled.

But back to your point, you don't have to bleed them every time you change the pads and since i changed the caliper, it should have the same pressure from when the pad was worn down and that pressure should be just fine.

Well u did say u replaced the caliper correct, so if u replaced it then you would have to bleed them. Also did u push the piston back in correctly, the rear you have to turn and push at the same time. The caliper is suppose to slide right on with no problems when the piston is pushed all the way back. I would also check your sliding pins for any seized pins. If they are seized then thats your prob. Wait and see if anyone else chime in on it

oh ok, then , check your sliding pins to see if there siezed. Also it maybe be your E- brake cable i believe thats wut its callled. I doubt wether u have a wrong size rotor.

That seems to be the general consensus. I will bleed later this week. I just need something that stops in the meantime. I expect it to be a bit mushy until i get that done but it's actually a lot better than i expected.

maxx0831 - I regreased the sliding pins already. Seems like everythings golden now that i started it up and pumped the pedal a few times.

Thanks,

LEMAR

Thanks,

EDITED... because for some weird reason the edit doesn't work on my last post...

keep an eye on your brake fluid reservoir. The first time I beld my brakes I didn't do a great job and after driving around for a day I noticed the brake fluid level was low. From what others on the .org have said you don't want that or your master cylinder could fail.

That's an interesting one. I've always done that and found 1/2 on each front to be completely rusted/seized this time around. That would explain how the front pads only lasted less than 2 years, when usually they go more than 4.

So they can actually seize in-between brake jobs....
