cracked windshield

So i'm driving along and there's this flatbed truck towing one of those tar-steamroll things and this lil rock goes WHACK into the very top of my windshield. Within a few miles I had a crack about 12" long. It really sucks.

I am debating whether to get a new windshield now or wait until spring when all the salt and sand from winter is gone.

I would say wait till its starts to crack some more.. if not just let it slide..

<<this coming from someone who lost the windsheild liner the 2nd day he bought the car and has spent over $10,000 on the car and not fixed the $100 part>>

it might get a lot worse with some freezing and thawing. you'll have to replace it soon enough.

You have a foot long crack? That sucks, you should at least have it stop drilled so it doesn't spread and caue more problems later.

Why bother? I mean, the comp deductible is $250 and the windshield is only $400. So you save what, $150 ? And your rates might be affected.. not worth it mun

You might want to contact your insurance company. My glass coverage does not have a deductable, are you sure yours does? I've had full glass coverage for years and it has really come in handy several times.

Yep, and for the majority of policies it is not even a chargeable event ( i.e. it wont drive up your insurance premiums and sometimes not even subject to deductible). If you let them do it, they will probably have someone change it in your parking lot at work. This is the most common claim there is.
