Inset rear wheels? Just curious
I am just curious, why is the rear track on the 4th gen Maxima shorter than the front?
I know quite a few cars are like this, but the Maxima just seems to have it the worst. I was wondering, what is the engineering advantage to having the rear wheels closer together than the fronts?
I must say, cosmetically it isn't too pretty either having the rear wheels set inside the wheel wells like a wood lined 70's station wagon.

lol .... I think it's becuase it is FWD. You don't see that on RWD cars and I think it has to do with the fact that the front is engineered to "pull" the car along, so the rear only travels. I really don't know ... but it's a good question. Pmohr or Dgeesman or NEmex might know ...

And that's NmexMax
if i came out with some bs thread and posts like this i would've gotten my *** chewed for being a stupid noob...but i guess you guys are allowed being senior and supporing members - and i couldn't care less but nobody noticed my reply about the turning radius??? come on, fellas.
It's just the way the car was designed .... it doesn't indeed matter really. He was just asking a question to see if there was a clear cut answer. Noboy's jumping on you Allen .... it's ok mate. Your answer could very well be right, I don't know. I guess if one of us was an engineer (that would raise the ?, "why a Maxima?") and had some influance or better understanding, they could tell us exactly.
I don't know the why, but I do know the 'how to fix'.

Sorry for misspelling your name NmexMax .... I was very tired. I figured one of you that has been around forever would have a better idea. Nice links on "how to" mate
Oh ... and my "caption" yea, been that way for a long time! She still doesn't like it. In fact I get **** for being on here all the time ... she just needs a hobby too. lol
