SUPERCHARGED 2001 Maxima SE - FLORIDA, $5250
SUPERCHARGED 2001 Maxima SE - FLORIDA, $5250
Greetings, guys! I am technically a GM guy, the proud owner of a heavily modified 68 Camaro and a 99 Trans Am vert. I frequent camaros.net and ls1tech.net. I used to have an 89 Mazda RX-7 T-II which was heavily modified as well.
I am also a car dealer. I buy and sell used cars out of Miami, FL. Yesterday I acquired a Silver 2001 Maxima SE with the V6 with a clean Florida title. Normally I'd just retail this car to anyone out there, but there is something more to it - read on. My partner picked it up and mentioned something about a turbocharger. Not believing my partner, (as he can't tell the difference between a drive shaft and a piston rod) I was like, yeah, yeah, whatever.
Anyway, I flip open the hood and sure enough, a Vortech V-2 supercharger - it has the Stillen kit! This car is a total sleeper - stock exhaust, sounds stock, and then POW a V-6 with a supercharger under the hood! Being a "car guy" I was very excited. But the belt is not hooked up to the SC.
The guy who sold it to us mentioned that the belt broke, and that he just put in the stock belt - that he just converted it back to NA but left the supercharger installed. I think he got in trouble with the police and lost his license, and didn't want to be tempted with the speed.
It has an APEXi SACF II plugged in. I was going to spend the weekend getting my hands dirty and reinstalling the belt and making the supercharger work so I can retail it, but I figure that before I do that I'd give you enthusiasts a crack at buying it. It seems to have the stock Stillen pulley (I'll measure later), the FPU, extra fuel pump, and everything, it just needs a belt.
The car does have 150k miles on it, but I was told by the owner that he had the bottom end rebuilt at 110k when he had the SC installed (although he didn't have docs to prove this). He said the belt broke a few thousand miles ago. Manual trasmission - it has a short throw shifter. The car is very clean except the front bumper needs to be repainted - which I am having done this week. My mechanic looked it over and said everything looks good, but he'd have to charge me a bunch to change the belt, so I'm doing it myself. All body parts and wheels are stock (has the very large Nissan rims) - I figure the buyer can customize it and make it all "Fast and Furious" or leave it as a sleeper. Car has a CLEAN carfax history. None of the bolts on any of the panels or doors have been turned, and there is no evidence of any non factory paint, so as best I can tell, this car has never beem in an accident.
The car blue books at $5250 with that mileage with NO supercharger. I'll sell it as is for that price OBO with the SC and SAFC included. Keep in mind this is a $3500 kit and it has a $300 SAFC II computer, so basically this car is a STEAL. Once I get the S/C working (maybe this weekend?), that number goes up by a thousand. I'll take pictures within the next couple of days. Let me know if you are interested at that price so I can not start working on it. I can be reached at 786-262-2260. I'll deliver it within 100 miles of Miami (Naples, West Palm Beach, the Keys, OK) or I can have it shipped at your expense. If you guys are interested let me know soon, otherwise I'm wrenching it up, having the bumper painted and retailing it on EBAY or craigslist for $6500. The car has ***** as it is, I'm going to hate to let it go after that SC is hooked up!

Ryan,
As a car dealer, you should know more than anyone that pics make the sale...(yes I know pics are coming.....)
And since you're a car dealer, I suggest you run the carfax and post it up for all to see.
I don’t mean to rain on your parade, but $20 says the belt was misaligned and it shredded. I assure you that the theory of him "not wanting to get in trouble" and disconnecting the belt is not the reason. No one buys a SC kit, spends all the time to install it (or $$ to have it installed), then disconnects the belt because the car is going to get them in trouble. LOL
Anyone who buys this car needs to know what they are getting into. The potential misalignment can be several things, and quit possibly, the belt may shred and break again when a new belt is installed. Very few people who have shredding belt issues solve their problem. Most remove the SC kit and sell it, only for the next poor guy to have the same problem.
Changing the belt on this particular SC setup is not exactly an easy task. There are many, many steps involved and lots of care needs to be taken to put it back together properly. Anyone who does it needs to realize you just don't "slap on a new belt" like you would the OEM belt. Many, many hours need to be set aside to change the belt properly (for a first timer) and a decent selection of tools.
Hope this info helps you and lets buyers get a feel of what they're getting themselves into.
On a side note, if you were going to take off the SC to change the belt, you'd probably be better off removing the entire SC kit and selling it separately and make more $$ in the end too; and save the hassle of re-installation.
Good luck with the sale.

OK guys, sorry I've been away for a bit, kind of busy with my business. Buying and selling cars is something I've been doing only since April.
The Maxima is still available. I was going to post pics on Monday, but when I went to drive it to take it to a good spot I noticed is that the car would not go into gear. My mechanic spent the last two days installing a new hydraulic system for the clutch and I'm hoping to get around to picking up the car today.
JN1CA31D91T822571 in the VIN.
The mechanic told me that the aftermarket clutch that is in the vehicle sometimes causes the hydraulic system to go prematurely. So it does have an aftermarket clutch.
Thank you for all of the suggestions and advice, guys. I am aware of carfax, posting pictures, it is just an issue of time for me. I want to give you enthusiasts a chance to get this thing before I ebay it. I'd rather give it to someone who will appreciate it for what it is.

Just an update... I've been driving the car around since yesterday. Drove it from our office to my home and back. These cars have *****! The clutch system works smoothly now without any issues. A/C blows cold but occasionally squeels (belt). I'm going to take a video soon, so you all can see what it is like.
Here is an update. Here are pictures of the car. I haven't yet had time to work on it, but very soon the bumper will be painted and this car will be sold to the highest bidder on EBAY. So please, come with offers. $5250 is what I'm asking. I think it is super reasonable.
