Having bolt removal problems

I just recently bought a y-pipe and am wondering how I am supposed to remove my completly rusted over nuts and bolts. There is a layer of rust over them I am going to try to use some spray stuff but should I just get a big breaker bar or would that bust the bolt on there?

Thank you
Jake

There is a product that you can put on the bolts overnight to loosen them up, but I forgot the name of the product. Someone will most likely post the name of it. Help me out here.

I would suggest spraying down the nut and bolts down with wd40 then get the handle off of your jack and then put that on the breaker bar and turn if anything breaks then you might need to drill the bolt out

I had to cut out the bolts between my muffler and b-pipe when I was installing my catback. Try and find a shop that will break the bolts for you. When I helped my friend install his rear-section on his 96, I brought it to a local shop and they broke the bolts for $15 dollars.

i dont think WD40 can handle exhaust bolts. Liquid Wrench or PB Blaster let them soak on a cool exhaust overnight. or u can dremel the off (maybe?).

or a shop like 99MAX suggested

The product that your probably thinking of is PB Blaster, stuff works great!
With you being up in Minnesota, they're rusted pretty bad. So either torch off the bolts or cut them off.

That's the stuff. If that doesn't work then definetly burn, cut, or break them off. Good luck.

Lol at some of the suggestions, because even if you can use any of the suggestions to loosen and grab them they are going to snap anyways. You have to cut them out and get it drilled or just have an exhaust shop clamp and tack it for $20.

KRRZ350 is right...
best bet is to get a shop to heat them up and loosen them... otherwise get them to cut and install new ones... cheap to do.

I Installed a y-pipe on my car And the place I took it to cut off the bolts and drilled through them and put a new nut and bolt on there and it works good.

Just torch them off, but I would only torch the bolts where the Y pipe meets the cat, not the bolts on each bank of the engine. YOu can buy a small torch set up at home depot for about $40.00.

if you use some krill oil and use a nice tight socket and take your time with steadily increasing pressure you can probably get them off no prob. its probably just flaky surface rust. Ive seen bolts that looked like they would disintegrate but when treated with care and removed correctly and cleaned they can often be re-used.

pb blaster or marvel mystery should help them a little. if you can get a good grip on them with a regular socket use one that is threaded for stripped bolt removal, iv got a set from snap-on but sears might have a set.
