Does any one know of a nearly silent exhaust set up?
Does any one know of a nearly silent exhaust set up?
but I want something with slightly better flow than stock. right now there is a greddy muffler on there I think but I forget. anyway Im sick of hearing the exhaust and the car looks real ghost with the wheels graphite and making it silent (or as close as possible) would be tight. so if anyone has achieved this let me know. thanks
I know what your sayn but Im just lookin for the quietest possible. I remember this civic with a gsr turbo and you could barely hear it between idle and 2500rpm. thats what Im lookin for. I understand higher rpms will be louder. and to re-explain Im not looking for a turbo exhaust setup or anything just a modest improvement in flow would be fine. Im looking for the best compromise within those values.
(I know it can be done I just dont want to waste money experimenting if someone has already done something similar.)

Unless you're boosted or highly modded N/A, high flow at the rear section is not going to affect performance noticeably. Stock should be fine if you're looking for quiet. Get a 5th gen muffler, if anything.
i have the megan headers, y-pipe, and street pipe, i have the pacesetter muffler which is pretty quiet until slamming the pedal only thing is that the tip sticks out a little.

I have a Budget Y pipe and the remainder is off the rack Walker parts, into a Walker "Quiet Flow" Muffler. The sound is just like the stock Nissan Exhaust, no different and the added power of the Y pipe. I have great hearing, and I can't understand why people claim the Y pipe is loud(er)? I love the set up that I have. I can't see why you would waste time or money for a 5th gen muffler, etc.

thanks I was looking at the walker but forgot to mention it in the post. people are always talking about the bees in the can sound with the y pipe and Im trying to avoid this. mabye the budget sounds better or is more insulated than the stillen? Im going to compare the walker muffler against the 5th gen (just because an oem nissan part will be nicer.) but will probably go walker with the rest of the exhaust. (Im guessing that a full 5th gen exhaust wouldnt fit or would be a waste of time)
I have no clue what the "bees in a can sound" is? I have no knowledge of any other Y pipe besides the Budget, but I would say the Budget pipe is great WITH NO STRANGE SOUNDS. Again I have no loud noise, no bees in a can, just a stock sounding 1996.

If anything, get an aftermarkey Y pipe Budget or if you have the cash then get a Cattman. Warpspeed Y pipes are the ones known to have the Bees in a can.
Leave the OEM exhuast on including the cat and go with the 5th gen muffler. It will be a bit more free flowing due to the elimination of the two precats in the OEM Y pipe and will not be raspy, or droning.
No need to remove the OEM cat since its not that restrictive to begin with.
