Hey all, sorry if this is a noob question but I searched and couldn't find an answer. I have a 2000 maxima made for Canada and I am ordering a Catback from Cattman and I don't know if it is Fed spec or cali spec? I don't have the car this moment to go look, does anyone know?

I believe it would be Fed spec. Seems like the 'default' emissions spec would be federal, rather than Cali.

 

Hey there, noob here but I am also re-working the exhaust on my 2000 Cali Spec maxima. The 4th O2 sensor and the additional catalytic converter that is part of the y-pipe are dead giveaways that you have a Cali-spec 2000 max. Without those, you have federal emissions. If you do a search for aftermarket replacment catalytic converters you will find some pic's of a federal spec y-pipe and a cali-spec y-pipe. That should help you figure it out. Hope this helps.

most 2000 where Cali spec, just pop the hood, if you see 4 sensors right behind the radiater then its cali.

Jeez!......talk about causing confusion. If it's a built for Canada '00 car, it's FED spec. It will have only three O2 sensors. The front precat sensor (the B2)connector (blue harness) is the only one on the rail in front of the front camshaft cover, the B1 (black harness) connector is inboard of the RH strut tower, and the rear sensor (aft end of the cat) connector is accessed by pulling the harness out at the floor pan grommet. If you have three O2 sensor connectors on the rail in front of the front camshaft cover then it's a CAL spec. car. (all cars have a smaller unrelated harness connector on the front rail on the left side)

 

I got a fed spec catback from Cattman (looks and sounds great btw) and the installers put it in with no comments and I havent seen any problems yet. So hopefully the sensors worked out and I dont get any codes anytime soon.
