Bouncy tach?

Note to Search *****: yes I did do a search, no results.

Moving along...when I bought my Max at 74k, my tachometer was very precise when accelerating and decelerating, but now it's sorta bouncy(102k on the dial). I realize this has no negative effect on anything in my car, I am just wondering what causes this and how it can be corrected, because yes, it does bother me.

Thanks in advance for your inputs.

I had that problem as well before, if your tachometer bounces or "skips" alot then there is something wrong with oxygen sensor. I am not sure which sensor but when I first bought my Maxima, my tachometer will skip from 1rpm to 5rpm on the highway and I'm not even pressing hard. Is your SES light on? You can try going to Autozone for a free SES diagnosis if it's on.
