Nissan processed my HLSD order
Nissan processed my HLSD order
For several months Nissan would not take my dealer's order for my 2002 6sp with HLSD. This week they took the order and I am told the car will arrive in FEB. My guess is it will be built near the end of Dec or first half of Jan, then go on a winter cruise.
Good news is they seem to have a date for "late availability"

I've never ordered a car before. Do you negotiate the price up front, down payment, or what?
Thanks, Jeff

They told me 3 months and were dead on. They were able to tell me the date it went into production and 1 month after that were able to tell me the exact date it would arrive. Nissan said give or take a day for the arrival date, but I was able to pick it up around 9 that night. There's just something about picking up a car with 4 miles on it!! Dealer test drove it to make sure everything was fine.

no me... ever again...
will I put a deposit on a maxima. I knew something was up with the clear on mine on delivery. it *looked* like tiny scratches that you could easily buff out. they said they would pick up the tab.
that left me with the choice of losing my deposit and passing on this car, or taking what came in. it was $600 and rather than say "you'll lose your deposit" they said you can pass on this car and wait for the next, but you will have to pay the cost we incured bringing it in (I insisted on truck delivery and screwed myself). that amount was about $400-500.
So, I had to take a car I really didnt want to on day 1. then only to find out the scratches were UNDER the clear. even the nissan paint inspector was puzzled and there was no history of damage at the factory. it was all bizarre.
no ordering with a deposit again for me.

Well, I called my dealer this afternoon, and he said Nissan accepted my HLSD order early last week. The delivery date came back as January(!)
Both my dealer and I feel that's pretty optimistic, though. I'm not really expecting it until February or March, but Nissan is saying production will begin in mid-December, so I guess it's possible it could get here in January.
