Just took my 2001 GXE to local stores for oil change. They have put
purolator 14620.

However, I found that purolator 14620 is for 00 maxima, 01 maxima should use 14610!

I also found that Nissan and Fram provide same oil filter for 00 and 01 maxima. While purolator and acdelco use different oil filter for 00 and 01 model.

What should I do next? Keep it or change again?

 

I cant imagine why a company would have two oil filters for the same motor just different years. I actually work in a parts store and have never noticed it before. I always use nissan filters, but if the two different filters are close in size and seal properly, then I cant imagine a problem. The one from nissan seems pretty small to me, but I have been reassured that its the one. If you are worried about it, just change it, only a couple of bucks.

 

Yeah there are two different filters for the '00 and '01. When I went to pep boys..they didnt have the '01 so I had to get the '00. When I put it on my car (the first time I ever changed the oil), I noticed that the '00 was a little bigger than the '01 that I had on the car when I got it. Ever since then I have been using the '00 one from pep boys..only because everytime I go to change my oil they never have the '01 filter.
