A Formidable Opponent (Jag X-Type)
A Formidable Opponent (Jag X-Type)
On my way home from the store i was about to turn to enter the highway (which was clear btw, just fyi) when i saw this Jaguar X-Type up front almost ready to make the turn. It seems like the driver was a guy in his late 20's - early 30's.
I noticed he was looking at his rearview mirror quite a lot when i pulled up behind him.
When the lights went green he entered the highway and so did i. First thing i noticed is that he floored it (you notice it from the way the car looks, lean on one side, fast acceleration, etc)
So, given i really didn't have that much fun i decided to run as well. On the turn i squealed my tires just a little bit so i presumre i had good traction, at least.
He was already 1 - 1/2 cars ahead of me when i got back in a straight line and i just floored it even more. At this point my auto was in magic mode and was still stuck at 1st.
I hardly caught up (read: slowly) when i finally shifted 2nd. At this point i started to gain on him... albeit still slowly until my front end was at his cars rear wheels.
Then came 3rd and it was all over. I passed him a bit faster and it was all over
At this point we were already both doing around 80-90mph (at least that's what it felt, i didn't look at the guage anymore... got too excited hehehe)
I then slowed down and he pulled up beside me. Both gave each other the thumbs up then he exited the highway.
I'm not sure if it was the 2.5L X-Type or the 3.0 but let me tell you it was a nice run. This was also the first time i ran the Max the closest to redline on automagic shifting.

It was early morning on highway 6
I found it odd myself but hey! Worked to my advantage

It amazes me how often I read stories about races on the Org and 80% of them end with drivers giving each other a thumbs up. I've raced so many peeps out here in Jersey and Ny and have not received one! It usually ends with a different finger up in the air, or with no acknowledgement at all. I guess people out here are aren't cool about getting burned.

I still don't know how to answer this question given i'm not really sure what it is.
If you're talking about that button found on the shifter. No. I don't have it. The shifter doesn't have any button of any type.
