Ran a Celica GTS 6spd today

Well I'm on my way home this afternoon and all of a sudden a v6 Mustang flies up beside me. I'm in 2nd gear at about 45mph look over at the guy and he hits wot and I do too I pull ahead a couple of cars easily. I shift to third and keep on WOT and pull way ahead. There was an upcoming sweeping corner that I just kept on all the way through third and I swear I thought the Mustang was going to "tip" over. After the corner I hit 4th for a bit and he was at least 15 cars back if not more. It was pretty funny. Anyways I slow way down and he eventually flys by me going to a red light. Never understood people who speed up to red lights? Anyways he ended up beside a Celica GTS and they took off as I did in behind. Another lane opened up and I passed the Mustang no problem and was just behind the Celica. Well we come up to another redlight. The mustang turned off so it was me and the Celica. Light goes green and we both take off. I had a good launch and we were even in 1st and 2nd. Man I was shocked that he stayed right beside me I had maybe 1/2 car on him at best going into third. I started pulling on him a bit in third and he just let off so I didn't get to see how we would do in third or fourth. Those things have crazy redline or what? Bottomline is if a Celica GTS 6spd gets you out of the hole you aren't going to catch up until somewhere midway through third if at all (no mods). I have a 2k1 5spd with sts, stillen intake, y-pipe, fstb, rsb, H&R springs etc.

i thought you had a 2k.. not that it makes a difference.. same car.. but i always assumed you had a 2k... the stock GTS should be pretty good at high end because its a high revving engine.. maybe he was modded

I have a 2K1 AE 5spd Sterling Mist with LSD.
I don't think he was modded but who knows these days anymore?
Ya I agree that car seemed to have a high revving engine for sure!

Re: Ran a Celica GTS 6spd today

a 6 speed Celica GTS is stiff competition. Right up there with the Integra ITR Good run! I know if I go against one I'll have to go 100 percent to get 'em.
