Removing chrome bar above license plate I35

I35
Anyone know how to get to the chrome bar? I got in there and once I had the trunk carpet off I undid a few bolts, but I still can't find out how to get the chrome bar off so I can replace it with one that doesn't have the ugly gold letters....Thanks

I spent an afternoon trying to get mine off and gave up. You have to remove the tails, and there are IIRC 1-2 other bolts. Then, from what I could tell, there are a LOT of clips behind the trunk latch mechanism that I could never get to. I was told that if I had a panel popper it would have been a lot easier, but I haven't been back in there since to give it a try.

I know a couple of other people in here have done it successfully. Hopefully they'll chime in.

I wish I could be more technical but if i remember correctly, I only had to remove 2-4 nuts and it popped right off with a cloth covered screwdriver. The whole assy. behind the license plate came off too I think.

Yeah, I got all the nuts, I just couldn't get it to come off from there. I was reluctant to start prying away to get the whole license panel off, but if that's all there is to it, I might have to give it another shot.

Thanks everyone, My boy is a certified Infiniti Mech and he does a boat load of work for me at the dealership. He said he will do it for me since he has the right tools.

Why do you want it off? You're going to be left with huge holes where the clips were.

I think he wants to get rid of the "gold" package on his. In my case, I eventually want to replace it with a new one as mine [somehow] became blemished.
