clamp to big for battery terminal

i noticed it a while ago and keep putting off fixing it because its really nbd but now it's starting to bother me, the clamp for the positive terminal on my battery is to big, it's tightened all the way and it still can just slide on and off.

Has anyone else had this problem? how did you fix it

the positive side is too big?
normally it is the negative side that is too big. some batteries use a smaller negative post than the positive side does.

One of mine is like that too, I believe it's the positive but it's dark out and I'm in my pajamas and I don't wanna go look. It has a sabot-type thing, a little flat piece of metal wedged in between the clamp and the post. It does the job I guess.

yep, at first I thought it was because of all the things i have running onto the clamp (horn, HIDs, Subs) but i realized they way i have them on there that they are actually making it tighter, i guess I'll try a shim

depending on how much too big it is, you may be able to put some aluminum foil between the terminal and the post to pick up the slack.

Check the clamp very close, I bet it is cracked. I found mine cracked and making poor contact a few years ago. I bought a replacement terminal from the parts store and fixed it. I did not buy the generic clamp where you have to hack up your battery cable. I found a clamp like the orignal one and cut the hoop off the old cable. I was able to trim the new clamp so it could be bolted to the remains of the orignal cable. It looks factory and retained the secondary connections and plastic protective cover.

i have the same prob. I need to change the postive terminal. I bought the universal clamps. Can I cut everythign close to the old clamp and just put all the wires together and clamp it down on the new one. The reason I asked is, bc I seen 2 black wires that were seperate on the postive terminal
