Need help; my car wont run but its starts up

I need some help getting my maxima running again, the car starts up fine when i press on the gas there is very bad throttle hesitation, and when i put it in drive (auto trans) the car just dies out. Its not throwing any codes and its not the fuel pump I'm assuming becouse the car stays running, just like i said it has bad throttle hesitation and if i try to put it in drive it just dies out.

I have a C.A.I. and I'm assuming its either the spark plugs, the TPS, or the MAF. hopefully its the MAF so i can just go and get a new one and put it on what are your thoughts?

My bet would be on the MAF....the engine will idle rough without it...and it'll completely stall out if you try to rev it.

Check:

MAF
TPS
Fuel Pressure

You do have fuel in the tank, right?

sounds like the MAF. when my Max was running rough, i unplugged the MAF to see if that affected it. idled smoothly but ran poorly and attempted to stall at slightly higher rpms. just check a junk yard, you'll prolly find one cheap and likely in working order. new is always best though.

yea i just don't want to buy a 200 dollar part and find out its not the right part. but tomorrow when i get out of bed ill unplug the MAF and see what happens. but like i said the max starts right up and idles fine and when i put it into reverse it even drives backwards but when i try to put it in drive it just stalls and dies out. and it does not rev to high RPM's just about 3 to 4K then if i step on the gas more it will stall and die out.

a used maf is usually around $50-$65. See if a fellow orger on here will let you drive to their house and swap the maf really quick. Also, have you chekced all the hoses for the air box and intake????

ya definatly try anything having to deal with the fuel and air mix. if you cant find anything wrong with the air intake system stuff then ya just to be on the safe side you might want to pull your fuel pump and check that and then if nothings wrong with that take out your fuel filter and try to blow through it if its really hard to get any air through it then youve solved your prob

Thats good that you figured it out. I was going to say TPS if you ever touched it.

wtf??!!!??!!!!! so why don't you locate a used one for like $50-$65, and then wipe down the maf and go return it back to autozone??

time was a luxury i did not have, I had to have the car running by 6pm last night. I returned the old one (MAF) and got $40. plus i think new is better then some junk yard part. As for the TPS since the computer did not throw any codes i thought it would not be the problem.
