Telescoping Steering Wheel

I love my new 2002 SE Auto, BUT... I'm not thrilled that it doesn't have the telscoping steering wheel like the Altima. Although I test drove it extensively, I didn't realize it's distance from the wheel might bother me. Does anyone know of any kind of modification to extend the wheel??? Can a dealer do this?

Since the Infiniti I30/I35 uses the same chassis, you may be able to swap the parts for their adjustable steering column, but this would seem to be very costly - just a guess.

What does a telescoping wheel do? I am not sure what it is and curious.

Allows you to see things REALLY far away from your steering wheel.

The steering column extends outwards towards the driver and back away from the driver for shorter and longer arms. The standard adjustment being just up and down.

Allows people to sit in the back seat and still drive.

Just like the moon-roof is used to look at the moon, you can use this to look at stars ... :wow:

Can't answer your question, but do agree w/ you - the Max steering wheel is too far, could definately use the telescoping feature.

Wish I had that in my Max. Then I could really drive it like a low-rider =)

How far back and forward does it move? Is it like a inch or something small like that?

how about this

Wish the Infiniti I30 or the New I-35 came in 5sp or now the 6sp with all the goodies like it did in the 4th gens... How about that. Then no more swaping Infiniti parts for Maximas because the Infiniti counterpart gets better or cooler parts... hey maybe that's why it cost more... pay for the cool parts.

Just my wish, plus it looks better and if you really want to, you can import Cefiro badges and make the I30 -I35 look like a Cefiro.

that'd be cool
