5th gen battery specs

I am having some difficulty with my whole electrical delivery system in my car. 2 weeks ago, my car would not turn on. i let it sit for a while and gave it another try and vrooooommm went that vq beast under my hood . 3 days ago it happened again in front of my friends house. He gave me a boost and i was on my way. I got home and decided, ok, i need to get a new battery. I took my girl's car to a local auto parts retailer and bought and Interstate battery, assuming it was the right one because the guy looked up the make and model of my 00 GLE max and thats what the search result came up with. I popped the new battery in and vroom went the vq again. I havent had start up problems since but now i have a different problem. When im slammin on the accelerator, the car seems to want to change gears but doesnt and overrevs to almost redline and then i hear a slam in the transmission and my rpms go down, which means it upshifted. Its been 3 days now and im scared of pushing the limits. I tested to see if it was a bad alternator, but that doesnt seem to be the problem because when i rev my engine in drive, my lights dont dim out or brighten up.

What could it be? Does anyone know the exact specs of the battery a vq30 00 GLE needs? any help is appretiated! thanks

What specs are you looking for? Size, recommended CCA...what?

A battery shouldn't be causing your trans issues.

That transmission problem definitely isn't caused by the battery. You should get your car checked out man.

yea the recommended CCA. I remember that on the old battery it said different numbers than on the new one. Wondering if someone could post the info.

Stock CCA is 582. Of course the battery's gonna have different numbers on it, you didn't get an OEM battery.

The battery won't cause your trans issues, unless the terminals are loose and it's causing some sort of odd electrical issues with the TCM.

I don't see how the battery could cause odd shifting. The only other thing I've seen that can mimic a tranny issue is a bad MAF.

How many miles on your 2000? Original MAF?

sounds like you might have had a bad connection at the battery not a bad battery.

when i see the grounding kits they all advertise crisper shifts for autos does this mean a terrible connection would cause rough shifting? You might want to clean your ground to your tranny, couldnt hurt i guess...

Ill take that in mind...never really thought of that. Would a grounding kit be a good move?

well the thing with this car is that the car as a whole has 147k on it as of now. When i bought the car about 6k ago, the guy who sold it to me said he had replaced the old vq with a new one of the same kind w/ 60k. Im pretty sure the original MAF is on it but ill look into that as well.

Your help is very much appretiated gentlemen. Ill keep you posted
