Strut Mount Life

I have 155K on my max and there have been annoying sounds coming from the front suspension. I have replaced almost all of the suspension components except for the mounts. I was following the thread on front end clunks and when I inspected my strut hat to tighten it, on the passenger side the whole strut kept rotating clockwise and anticlockwise. Looks like the "D" on the hat has rounded off resulting in the bizzare behavior on the strut bolt.

Based on the #miles is changing the mounts (KYB from Kragen) a good preventive maintaince item..

I found that clunking noise on the front right side a few days ago....B4 I switched to Illuminas from stock (over a year ago), is when I noticed a slight little clunk/rattle on the right front in which I thought was the strut valving rattling over small bumps. Well I switched to Illuminas and I still had that rattle/light clunk that I could not seem to find it, after inspecting every item on the suspension repeatly. One day I decided to check the torque/condition on the front sub assemble as well as engine mts and crossmember. That's when I discovered that awful amount of play in this mount.....http://
break out the big pry bar and I bet yours is moving alot as well!

CMax03: These mounts looks like the ones on the sides? They seldom fail but then I will definetly look at them too. BTW, how did you replace it, any BKM to share.

Jacked up the car removed the front right tire, splash shield @ crank pulley, engine cover, supported engine and removed engine mount and replaced with new and reinstalled everything else in reverse order! Really simple, more to do b4 actually R & R engine mt. About 20-30 min to remove old and install new mount.
