Did I damage the tranny?

We got whacked with some major snow, and as a result my car got stuck for hours on my street. It took an hour of revving and wheel spinning just to get the last third of a mile to my house.

In the midst of all this my ABS light and TCS off light are on and everytime I start the car the Check AT light flashes for a good 15 seconds. Anyone know what's wrong? I haven't driven the car anywhere to see if the lights will turn themselves off cause I'll just get stuck again. The tranny light really worries me. Have I damaged anything?

When I got into my driveway I tried reving it lightly to 3k and as the rpms fell I could hear a distinct rattle, and it wasn't pinging either. Anyone know what's wrong?

not sure if this can happen or not, but you might have a crap load of snow where the abs sensors are so that might throw the abs light on,

Check your tranny fluid, see if it is still bright red, it's probably brown now, see if you can tell if there are metal shavings in there as well.

Did you check the code the TCM set? Checking the codes is the first thing you should do when there's an error with a visible MIL.

A/T Check, hmm?

With the key in ACC and your foot on the brake pedal? Shouldn't be.

yep, the lever moves out only with the key at ON
when in ACC, if I press the brake pedal, I can hear a click sound in the dash, but the lever can't be moved out.

Have you tried the procedure with releasing the lever manually via the shift lock release?

Sounds like you may have overheated the transmission. Checking the fluid will tell.

With the automatic transmission, on the gear selector, look at the upper left corner. You'll see a tiny slot, pry that plastic finisher up with a tiny flat blade screw driver and use that screwdriver to push in the shift lock. Make SURE you are on level ground OR have the parking brake set.

You can switch the gear from Park into Neutral which will cause the car to roll!

Well, tranny fluid was black. Replaced it with Amsoil Syn ATF and the car is fine now.

The rattle however is blown pre-cats so headers are on order.
