Steering knuckle? knocks when I make full turn

Ok
Ever since I got my 06 back from the shop, my steering wheel makes a slight knocking sound when I make a full turn. it does it about 3 times when I turn the wheel both clock or couterclock all the way.

I am guessing this is the knuckle?

I had some other repairs done and the mechanic who drove with me said that they might have to change the whole column? or i guess it comes in an entire assembly

True?

I verified and it this is covered under my extended warranty, but damn, that means I have to fork out $100 deductible...

Is this covered under the regular 60K power train?

I initially had the car for another issue but just asked the mechanic about this so they didn't really look at it.

What should I do at this point?

Jack your front wheels up off the ground using jack-stands.

Then turn your steering wheel a couple of times all the way counter clockwise and clockwise. Then report back the results.

I had this problem b4. The tech said it was a u-joint that was starting to rub and wear out. The parts were less than like 150 but labor brought it up to 400.

so you hear the sound ONLY at full turn or while you're making the full turn (in the middle of the turn too)?

If its only at full turn, most likely its the axles (check the CV boots to see if they are torn)

If its also making the noise while turning even before you make the full turn, it could still be the axles, or the steering column itself or the rack and pinion or something loose or the U joints.

Have the mechanic check it out while on the lift and looking underdash panel at the u joints.

Is it metal on metal noise or metal on plastic?

Whenever I turn the steering wheel, all the way, lets say I am back up turning the left then pulling up to readjust the wheel allll the way to the opposite direction...like that

While I am turning the steering wheel alll the way to the opposite direction, I would hear three knocks.

It sounds like plastic on metal, it's not very high pitched. More muffled, so I am not sure if it is metal on metal, or rubber or bushings on metal..all I know is that it is DEFINITELY coming from my steering wheel.

And it ONLY happens AS I am turning the steering wheel. If the car stays in a straight line, it doesn't happen. If I make a simple turn, you don't really hear it. If I make a full circle then it will happen.

The sound now is more pronounced than 2 days ago. Will take it to the shop tomorrow....once again. It's at nissan for drain and fill right now so I can't take videos, sorry.

My repair list on this car is rather longgg this month. And it all happened at once. When it rains, it pours I guess.
