Whats up with my clutch pedal????

Alright this one is drivin me nuts. I rebled my clutch system today and when I got in the car it was perfect. The release point of the clutch as well as the top end freeplay. I start driving and then all the damn sudden my clutch pedal does its deed and grows a mind of its own. The freeplay went from about 1/2" to zero inches and now the release point of the clutch is high as *****. What is going on here? Is there something I am missing?

Check the fluid again. Maybe the HP clutch is making the slave cylinder leak fluid. Also did you remember to grease the shaft that the T/O bearing rides on?

I thought about that one. But if the thing were leaking, wouldnt the opposite happen? Wouldnt the clutch soften up after driving... not tighten up?

Yes, I greased all the lube points including the throwout bearing shaft with lithium grease that contains moly _______...

I know the brakes are connected to engine vaccuum, but I dont think the clutch system is. This ones really got me stumped.

Clutches do NOT have any vacuum asist so that's not it. Maybe something is wacky w/ the clutch adjustment? Doesn't the 4-gens have an automatic clutch adjustment? Check the FSM. I can't really think of anything else. Or maybe just readjust the pedal play again.

Alright well I checked the FSM and it has nothing about any automatic or self adjusting, but I'm sure that its present. I recall people complaining about it before, of how the release points will change and it will make the driver seem like a amatuer stick driver. Anyway my solution was just to set the clutch pedal with about 1/2" of freeplay when its "tight", and when it wants to become loose, the tight point and release points will be just a little lower on the travel of the clutch. We'll see how I like this setup.

Alright, I went clubbin tonite downtown and i was able to get the clutch to adjust itself many times. it went from perfect, to too high to too low. It probably is so apparent on the ACT clutch cause it engages so quickly compared to the stock one. Anyway, I did a search and came up with this from last year. Looks like its the design of the car. Damn nissan at it again..... Almost makes me wonder if there is a way to toss this slave cylinder and put in a different styled one that does not do this.
