Short Throw Shifter -- Need advice

I am looking for some advice from anyone who has installed a short throw shifter on thier Maxima. I have a 97 SE and am considering it. Did you like it? What changes did you notice? What brand did you use?

Thanks,

Gary

SMC

I got the smc sts. It's awesome, I love the looks and the shorter throws. It's wayyyy notchier but i like it. Installation was easy but hard. Let me explain. The installation itself is easy. It was almost impossible for me because on my 5 year old car the exhaust bolts are rusted solid. I actually left the cat on and worked around it... which resulted in my not banging out the heat shield correctly and consequently by sts hits on the heat shield. I plan on ripping the whole heat shield off saturday.

Anyway, long story short (too late!! ) I would choose the smc again in a heartbeat.

Re: Short Throw Shifter -- Need advice

Have 95SE and Pacesetter STS ($70). Definitely sweet. Like CKNY, it is notchier, especially 1st/Rev. Install isn't so bad if you can unbolt the Ypipe-CAT bolts. For a short throw, leave off the heat shield. If you love to drive, this is a great mod... right up there with Y-pipe and my H&R/Koni setup.

STS is great, when you buy the adjustable one, make don't adjust it to the shortest setting. I did that and put everything back together, and than found out the I couldn't shift my gear. From the lowest setting, go about 1/4 of the way up! Hope this helps, and yeah custommaxima is where I got mine, it is the lowest I found!

Go with custom maxima I have seen them installed and people really seem to like it once it is in. I have one too but have to wait for a weekend where i can actually get an hour to install it.

How high is the STS compared to the stock shift. Hopefully the actual stick is a lot lower.

On the adjustable STS are hight and throw adjustable separatly, or is it lower = shorter throw? I want to decrease my throw quite a bit, but only lower the shift **** a couple inches, is this possible?
