Best spot to drill a hole in the firewall?

Where do you guys normally drill the firewall to get wires though? I need to to run my existing wire for my oil pressure gauge though there and also i am getting ready to put in an aftermarket stereo and I need to run a 4 gauge wire to the truck as well. Is there a tinplate? I know a lot of fourth gen guys drill in the same spot. Any pics or tinplate for the best spot?

WTF is a tinplate?

do you mean template?

I pulled the inner fender liner and drilled a hole above the dead pedal.

I drilled a hole in the rubber around the main harness. I don't want to drill in metal, might start a rust party. I was only running 4 gauge tho.

For a smaller wire, you might be able to shove a screwdriver through the main harness seal, but I wouldn't recommend doing it for anything bigger than about 8awg. expecially if drilling. Too much risk of hitting a wire inside it or behind it and FUBARing the harness. Maaan I'd HATE to have to pull that harness out of the car to fix that!

If you take off the fender on the driver's side front wheel (take off the wheel as well, it will be much easier) you'll see a bunch of wires going into the area under the dash. I (and I think others of you above as well) just pushed my 4 gauge wire through there. I found the most effective way to to it was to tape the end of the wire onto the end of a wire hanger and push it through that way.

When i installed my amp kit i drilled a hole in my firewall behind my brake pedal. Maybe 1/2 in in diameter. later on I ran a couple more wires through it. For me it seems to be an easy way to run whatever you need into the engine compartment.

My amp wire is about the size of that yellow cable you have... rock on!

What I did was that I drilled a hole where the clutch petal should go, but that's because my car is an automatic, i don't know about yours.
