squeak at 1000 rpms...

hello org...i need some help troubleshooting a few things

apart from the late shift issue with the tranny i think there is something else wrong with the car. I feel a slight vibration on my foot when accelerating from a dead stop ....feels like a grind. My brother says its normal. The mechanic doesn't even feel it. The car also seems sluggish b/w 1st and 2nd gear sometimes but most times it runs good...
a week or so back CEL came on giving a P0138 code (bad o2 sensor B1). A couple of days later it went away then a week later it came back.
Today i noticed weird squeaks at 1000rpms when reving up the engine. I hear it both times as the needle goes past 1 and as it comes back down. Look at the video so you know what im talking about. Listen for the squeaks at 1000 rpms.

Is my transmission damaged or is there something else wrong with the car? I just bought the damn thing so im really frustrated at this point

sounds like the engine mounts are gone.

the viberation on the gas pedal is normal, I have that when cold.

man these maximas have so many "normal" things that aren't normal on other cars

so the squeak could be bad motor mounts? hmm i'll do the rev test tomorrow and look for any abnormal movements....could it also be the idler pulley?

more then likely not an idler pulley. Sounds like a mount thing to me.

as far as normal things that dont exist in other cars, how many miles do you have? generally when we say a problem is normal it means that its common but isn't damaging or worth fixing.

The vibration in the pedal is not normal.......are you sure that you don't have a miss at idle? The rear O2 sensor code can be caused by a fuel system issue or a vacuum leak. These cars can sometimes have a miss at idle for quite awhile before a missfire code gets set and the SES light comes on. Any maintenance history, particularly re the coils? It may just be the video, but it sure makes the engine sound like it's got excessive valve clearance noise. I have the same squeak, doesn't cause any operational issues on mine and I haven't bothered to locate it.

it has around 62K miles on it. The guy said he replaced the ignition coils recently. As far as i know the engine runs good and is really quite on idle. The vid makes it sound loud but in reality its not. It does get noisy when i accelerate a little harder but i think that's normal....
other than the above mentioned things i also notice a faint smell from the engine bay sometimes. It's not that obvious though.....

i have the same squeek at around 1000 rpms on my 03, i think it is some type of solenoid around the tranny, dont know if that is normal though

well the tsb says to replace the solenoid pack if the car shifts late. If the squeak is related to the solenoid pack as you said then could it really be the faulty solenoid pack?

I did not know about that TSB. I am not for sure my guess is as good as yours but its got to be some type of solenoid cause it squeeks/activates around 1000rpms at all times. My tranny also shifts late so that may be a solution.

keep us updated. Hopefully its the solenoid and not the tranny...
do you get the same around the same rpm or different?

I've a similar squeaking noise initially heard when slowly accelerating in the lower gears on a 6-spd 5.5 gen. My Nissan shop suspects the front spring(s) twisting at the base when the car lifts on load. Their advice was to stay sensitive to the issue, and address it if it changes...

...or, I could have the shop analyze the problem with electronic "listeners", to locate the noise. I haven't done that (yet) because I'm only mildly annoyed, not really worried, and kind of considering a trade-in to the 2009 anyway.

well what do you know....my bro's 03 which he recently bought, has the same exact squeak at the same exact rpms.....I've noticed his tranny shifts a little late too when cold. Maybe there's a connection or just a coincidence?.

Normal for our cars to make a light "chirp" sound as the rpms pass 900. I believe it has to do with the motor mounts.

Normal, well, OK... but it still feels wrong. At the least, it's kind of annoying. It started about 5000 miles ago. Curiously, it's less noticeable when below freezing outside, then very noticeable when the outside temperature warms up.

Outside temperature? Definitely, I've observed outside temperature affects the issue. What's that all about? (I can't speak to the whole shifting late thing, mine's a manual transmission.)

Well here's your update. It doesn't seem to be the solenoids because I no longer have any codes. Changed my tranny oil to syntethic and no more problems. So I'm leaning towards the mounts or just something that's normal over time

Same issues with my car about 2 months ago. After driving for a week like this my trans went. Lost 3rd and 4th gear. 2 months and 600 dollars later got a new transmission and im back up and running.

Must be a different noise because mine has been doing it since I got it 34,000 miles ago. I only hear it when the engine is in park or neutral as the engine passes 900 rpm up or down. Pretty faint too.
