Im done with autozone alternators, well at leaast until this one goes bad. Where can I get a alternator that will not go dead every 6 to 12 months?

 

did you turn in your old OEM one?

shoulda had it rebuilt by an auto electric shop.

 

Make sure your splash guards are in place, and that you have NO fluid leaks.

I'd give Denso or a brand new one a shot

 

I got my OEM original altenator rebuilt by a local auto electric place (D&K Rebuilders, Alachua, FL 32615) about 7 years ago and it's still working fine. I think it cost me about $130 if I remember correctly, maybe a little less. If you need to, pick up an OEM from the junk yard and have it rebuilt.

Depends on who is doing the rebuilding

 

The big issue is finding an OEM original in the junkyard. once they're a bit dirty, it's kinda hard to tell since the remans often use an OEM case.

 

NAPA did it for me after 3 autozone alternators, and 2 oem nissans.....

 

i think they have diiferent levels of rebuilt alts and some stores... also if u have a good electrical shop near you they can rebuilt it i like that bc it keeps it all original..

I've only replaced the alternator once (it was the original! ) and took it to the dealership because I was still living on campus at that point, and I kinda needed my car to be working again in short order. Haven't had any issues with it since and that was 3 years ago

 

OEM, Bosch (new), and Denso

 

My car has 265,000 miles and it's on the OE alternator. Only thing I've had to change are the brushes inside the alt. cost me $20 at a rebuild shop.

 

My car has the original alternator (160k), as far as I know. The car has been in my family since the late 80s and it only had around 50k when my brother bought it.

I bought a new alternator from NAPA for my QX4, which has a lot more electronic junk than most Maximas. I would probably go that route or find a reputable shop to rebuild one.

 

Hey Karl, dealer costs 215 but at least its an OEM alternator. Thats with our discount though so dont think that's what it'll at any dealer

 

Last time the alternator went out, I went throught 3 remanufactured units from Napa before I convinced 'em to give me a new one at no additional charge. That one has been working fine for years now...

 

good luck getting one from the dealer. most of them just list them as unavailable. the ones that do list them don't tell you they're Reman units as well. Nobody sells a NEW OEM unit.
