FWD feels faster than RWD

This guy at my school says the '95 Max 5spd he rode in felt faster than the '02 Honda S2000 6spd. The Maxima threw him back in his seat he said, while the S2000 didn't. He says this is because with FWD you get the sensation that your being pulled rather than pushed. Is this true ? If so, props to the Maxima's impressive performance, eerr drivetrain.

Re: FWD feels faster than RWD

One Word ... TORQUE!!!

Honda = No Torque!

I drove a WRX last week ... and Man does that give you a Pinned to the Seat feeling when Floored!!!

The tranny ain't bad either ... I want Shorter Throws though!

All you feel is that your being pushed by the seat, or the actual body of the car.
Yea, I was thinking that all along, but didn't want to say anything. The kid who's dad owns the S2000 says the Max felt faster becuase of FWD. He wasn't even the one who rode in it. The foo is just mad becuase a mere "maxima" felt faster to some kid than his precious s2000.

Still though, a Maxima feeling faster than one of those birds I thought they were supposed to be hella quik.

I'm glad you put the "likely" in there...don't you know that Maximas here have been whooping on S2ks left and right?

So I don't come off as a negative poster...yes, it's the torque that makes the Max "feel" faster.

Yea, yea I know the S2000 is faster. 0-60 in 5.8 or whatever. But the '95 Max 5spd was 0-60 in 6.5 which is isn't too far off.

All i'm sayin' is that i'll take a used '95 Max over a new S2k anyday.

what you feel when being pushed back in you seat is the torque to weight ratio the lower the faster the car feels, also try having someone drive your car for you, when driving most drivers compensate for acceleration by leaning fowards a little or stiffening their back because they know when the car is going to accel, its always fun to punch it and look over at the passenger's body being shot back to the seat

That's 6.6 for the 95/96 Max.
~7.0 for the 97-99
6.7 for the 2k/2k1, but now it's the 2k2 that's closing in on the S2k!

I can't say which one I'd take...the max is obviously more practical...but I'd much rather have the S2k.

fwd or rwd has nuttin to do with it.

s2000 requires high rpm to get torque while maxima do not.

S2000's are only 4cyl. engines. What amazes me is how they pack 240 horses into it.

For the amount of $$ i'd spend on the S2000, I'd rather take a SVT Cobra. That and the lightning are the only Fords that are totally awesome.

S2Ks are not drag racers. You take any Max on the track with the S2K and the S2K will probably lap it BTW, the S2K with a clutch dump at 7K will get 4.9 to 60 mph
