Battery Connectors / Fuseable Link

Searched but didn't see anything on this subject (thought I would) anyways, the Fusable link seems to clip onto the pos battery terminal connector. I bought some new terminal connectors that I'd like to install, but they arn't exactly OEM, bit thicker and oxidation resistant.

is there a way to install this correctly? do I have to buy a different connector? thanks.

It's just an electrical connector, not a fusible link. Probably why you didn't find anything in search..

Post a pic of the connector you bought, otherwise it's going to be a little hard for any of us to help you install it..

so your putting new battery post clamps on. Im not sure what trouble your having. You losen those top 2 bolts and put the appropiate wire there (pos red, black ground) then tighten those 2 bolts down to clamp the wire in. and put on battery. pretty simple.

I put those exact ones on my truck, I used a wire brush on the inside of those to get some of that paint off.

Our positive post has 2 alty/starter wires in a red connector, you cant just "hook it up" like your truck.

mysticcal: The red connector is removable from the positive post.. like below

you could mount it like this...

Or like this maybe..

yup, that's how I did it (except I bent it sideways/flat, and attached it as shown in the second pic).

car works fine, and has no corrosion, so far.

Putting wires with a terminal connector on it through one bolt connecting to the positive post clamp is considered "just hooking it up" to me

The op was looking for suggestions on how to hook up the 2 wires on the red connector. He probably had no idea that it is easily removed and transferred to a generic batt terminal. your post didn't outline how to do this in any way, you didn't even mention the red connector..

Heh, it's an old connector, the inside has been rounded out over the years, so it's gotten a little "bigger" so to speak. So it had to be tightened down a bit more vs. a new connector.
