Phantom window

this may sound weird &/or bizarre but...has anyone noticed their window/s openning slightly on its own??? my rear right passenger window seems to open about an inch or 2 sometimes. i have no idea why this is happening. i could understand if it was lowered all the way but an inch or 2. any thoughts???

I haven't heard of anything like that here so far.

This cannot be an intelli-key problem, as that marvelous bit of technology cannot address just one window. So we look at the window control buttons. Only the driver and the right rear passenger have control buttons for the right rear window, and I will assume you had no passenger sitting in the back. So we look at the driver's control button for that window.

The right rear window button is the one most likely one for the driver to accidentally brush against (or to get bumped by a swinging hand or elbow), as it is on the lower right corner of the driver's armrest button array. Accidental brief pressure against that button would move the right rear window very slightly. Heavy pressure (past the first detent) would, of course, trigger the auto-down and the window would open to its maximum (which, on the '09, is not all the way to the sill).

If that accidental bumping/pressing the switch is not the cause, then we are left with four other possibilities:

1 - There is an intermittent problem with either the window control switch for the right rear window on the driver's armrest, or in the window control switch in the right rear passenger's armrest. Because of the intermittence of the problem, if nobody is riding in the back when this happens, I would lean toward the switch in the driver's armrest, as the driver's knee or elbow bumping against any part of the door might be enough to trigger this.

2 - Your wife is planning to have you committed, and has begun a campaign to make you think you are losing it.

3 - You have invisible little visitors from Zeta Reticuli studying you, trying to decide if you are the specimen they will use for an experiment, and they need the opening for ingress/egress.

4 - Your Zeta Reticuli friends have already taken over your mind, and you are only imagining the window is slightly open.

My vote is for #2.

However to add to Light's #1, did you possibly spill anything there. Soda?

I cannot possibly agree with #3 and 4.

All scifi fans know the aliens are from Andromeda IV.

This reminded me of my first ever Nissan (Datsun) 280ZX. I was on the highway in the daytime on a very cold winter day. With both hands on the steering wheel, I watched the passenger side window go half way down, pause, and then go all the way down. Since I was the only one in the car, and I only have two hands, I know I didn't do it. It was cold, so I put the window back up and it never happened again in the ~ 10 more years I owned the car.

Because I don't believe in aliens, and my wife doesn't need a lot more evidence to have me committed, I don't discuss this very often.

Yesterday the Phantom struck my window too but it was the driver's side rear passenger window. I was riding with 2 of my Soldiers and one was sitting in the back, all of a sudden I start to hear wind noise so I turn around thinking that my Soldier in the back had opened the window because it was too hot.

I had the AC on, so I asked him was he too hot/was the AC on back there and he said that everything was fine but he said I was wondering why you let the window down.

I told him that I did not press any buttons and we laughed it off like it was a ghost but immediately I started thinking about your post on this so I decided I should share it with you.

It's a funny thing but it hasn't happened again yet nor had it happened before that.

Maybe we should ask Nissan to investigate this issue....

Nissan investigate aliens? I don't think so. If you wish, I can give you the address of a monthly publication you might find more helpful for this type thing. You may have heard of it: UFO Report (to which I do not subscribe).

This thread has me keeping one eye on the road and the other eyeing my rear door windows in the mirror.

If you got lil kids they maybe playing around with the keys...lol If you hold down the unluck button the windows goes down just incase you need to let heat out after letting the car sit in burn sun having hot leather seats/black at that....or you could be sitting on it in ya pockets or something mashing up against the bottom

The problem can't be the kids playing with the key or the key getting pressed in his pocket, because the key cannot operate just the right rear window. This has to be an electrical problem, possibly in the window switch on the right rear passenger door armrest, or the switch that operates the right rear window on the driver's door armrest.
