Just found a new rev limiter...anyone on here have it yet?

i just found a bee R rev limiter and it is said to be safer than any other rev limiter due to others being a fuel cut which basically leans out the motor by stopping fuel from being injected and instead is an ignition cut. one thing they say is that it is if you have a cat it is guaranteed to blow it out over time so its best that you have a test pipe because when it hits your set rev limit it shoots fire or loud pops out your exhaust...watch a video on youtube if your interested just type in Bee R rev limiter and be sure you have a space in between...my favorite is the one where the guys is on a quiet street and just hits rev limit the entire way down. the pricing is between $360-$380 that ive seen.

im very curious about it i think i may be the test dummy...it works on all 4 cyl, 6cyl and rotary engines except honda s2000 and honda integra's or at least thats all ive found. no v8 applications but seeing as we're all v6's it shouldnt matter for us..lol

Wonder if it would cause misfire codes?

i read some people's reviews on it and read on some other forums like zilvia and no one mentions anything about misfire codes. i was thinking about that too.

Ignition cut definately has advantages in some ways, and the flames are fun, but be prepared to foul plugs.

Remember fuel can still ignite without a spark if it's hot enough in the cylinder so you can still have some chance of damage using this as your rev limiter.

By the way you can find adjustable ignition cut boxes for around 80-125$ instead of paying 300+ for that one... lol

This box does not increase your rev limit higher than stock. It only will set to a limit lower than stock and give an ign cut vs fuel cut. Not a really useful tool.

^ agreed, its just one of those "cool things to have" IMO. I gotta say I wouldnt mind a nice 2step type launch at the local hang out spot on a saturday night.

Wonder how safe this would be for boosted situations. for example hitting rev limit while in boost. Iv always wondered if it was dangerous hitting limiter in boost, i gotta figure it out before I finish breaking in my motor cuz when theres more power it spins out at hits rev limiter to fast to respond. Maybe this device can help

it becomes a little more useful if you have a EMU or UTEC and can extend your fuel cut.

Doesn't the EU's 2step function cut ignition?

Would it cause it to backfire/shoot flames like the Bee*R does?

(I'm thinking it would be fun if there was a way to make my car shoot flames with the header/catback setup, by using the EU to a) jack up injector PW at/near redline on the part throttle I/J map or b) find a way to get the same effect by using the ign. tables)

It should actually be pretty safe especially on boosted cars. Ignition cut > fuel cut, because if you hit fuel cut on boost, the injector PW's are reduced drastically and that cause a sudden lean condition. Cutting ignition basically just dumps unburned fuel into the exhaust.

So basically the device just takes away power from ignition at the set rev cut?

Cant we just use a regular $40 rpm switch and set it to disconnect the ignitions power wire at a set rpm?

it doesnt shoot them out as im 2 stepping....i gotta play with the pedal: hit the extended rev, let the rpms drop, then 2 step it, just play around with the gas basically and itll shoot flames.

to be honest, im assuming its the 2 step function thats responsible for it. it doesnt do this when i unhook the EU. so its either the extended rev just dumping a crap load of fuel, or the 2 step ignition cut, or a combination of both.

as moncef said its pretty safe for boosted cars. yes theres cheaper alternatives but this is one of those cool factor things like many of you said. i will be purchasing it next week and i will have videos and pics up as soon as i get it in. one of my friends who has a 240sx w/ an rb20 swap has it on his and i must say it sounds like the loudest misfire but it just looks so cool. we laid lighter fluid on the ground and had him set it right next to it....he's had it on his car for about 7 months and he said he's had no trouble w/ it but once again thats on a boosted motor. no word on n/a applications but from what i read on other forums people have no complaint but mainly just talk about how cool it is and the looks they get from people. but even i will say...its just one of those pointless things almost that you just gotta have and i know everyone on this forum has had those type of mods before.

The nice thing about this, like Maximum said about the "cool factor" is the gain adjustment, which basically adjusts how often spark is cutting which I guess affects how many flames your car shoots out

The RB cars tend to work well with these hard cut limiters, however the Bee*R systems have often not worked too well on SR motors due to a weaker valvetrain possibly (just what I heard).

I'd really like this but I wanna find a way to do the same thing with the EU/2step function. Has anyone seen an AE shoot flames?

sr's=rod knock...no offense to anyone who may have one dont get me wrong ive seen a few nice ones but all of them that ive seen at one point or another have blown up and been rebuilt or have been replaced...even nissan admits sr's are not the best in their line up. it was in an article i read a while ago that their best motors ever made are the rb in first place. VQ in second, (hints the reason why their slowly converting all of their car line ups to vq) vg,ka,and if my memory serves me right the ve...but for owners who have sr's no worries because under you is the ca...lol..i have a feeling im going to have a lot of bashing for this comment but keep in mind im just the messenger...this is what i remembered i read a couple years ago...i gotta find the article so you guys know what source im getting it from.
