Great parts car or even fix it up if inclined
Great parts car or even fix it up if inclined
Hello People,
*Take the whole car, I'm not parting it out* Actually, one could make some good $ parting it out.
I was rear ended recently on my 1997 Infiniti I30. Just badly enough and car old enough to have to declare it a salvage if I want to get paid from the insurance company. I am not going to fix it because it will take too many weeks waiting for it to get fixed and going through the re-certification in PA is a nightmare from what I hear. If I had a place to keep it, I'd keep it for my own parts but can't have an unregistered car in an apartment complex.
This car has never seen salt (I work at home), the bolts on the undercarriage come off like butter. 155K, synthetic since birth, changed tranny fluid 4 times. Struts replaced last year. Only thing done on the motor was plugs and replaced a starter. Oh and it is an automatic (sorry). Shifts firm. As a matter of fact, I'm kinda mad because I'm finding the 99 I bought with half as many miles isn't in nearly as good as shape.
Leather is really great shape.
90% of the miles on this car are highway. I always have a toy car for local driving fun. Never raced it, it's never even seen the redline.
Only mod ever done was once I put in higher wattage bulbs. That didn't work well and ended up putting in new light sockets. :P
I have been driving since the accident and you'd never know it. Still drives straight hands off the wheel.
Things that were on my to-do list before accident:
Replace CV boots
Replace the park safety switch - (sometimes have to press the brake a 2nd time to get it out of park
New plastic gear select display thingy around gearshift selecter (the black thing that says P, D, R etc). Someone used the lighter and it popped out and landed on the plastic face down.
Paint the passenger side airbag cover. Some of the paint rubbed off when cleaning it on a very hot day.
Steam clean the carpets. Good shape, but could be cleaner.
I was pushed into another vehicle, so the front bumper had some scrapes (probably not fixable), and the grill is pushed in just a tad. Fenders, lights, hood etc all just fine.
The doors and fenders do not have a single ding in them. Nobody would ever believe me that the car was 12 years old. There is one scrape on one door moulding.
As I mentioned I'm still driving the car (bought new one yesterday though) so you will have the ability to test and drive before buying.
I'd really like to get $500 for this. Seems reasonable.
The wheels in the picture do not come with. I swapped the 99 infiniti wheels and tires. They are the older Maxima style wheels, and need refurbished. There is probably 15K miles of tread on them.

I'll edit my original post to save others time. Thanks for pointing out that I was apparently unclear about that.
