I am getting ready to replace my spark plugs and wires. Does anyone have any recommendations on what brand to buy. Any thing wrong with Autozone/Advanced Auto brand. This may already be out there but I couldn't find it with a quick search, what is the gap on the plug supposed to be? Thanks in advance for the help.

 

NGK is a good brand for Nissans, but I dont think 4th gen Maximas have spark plug wires...

 

NGK copper or platinum. Nothing else. Also, 4th gen on does not use spark plug wires.

ran bosch for almost a year, misfiring started and the Ngk V-powers cleared it right up. worth every penny IMO.

 

nope, they have coil packs which "plug in" to the sparkplugs. They kind of look like [extremely] bulky spark plug wires but they're not, and i dont think they need to be replaced unless they are causing problems.


Any NGKs r better than Bosch. You can get the copper ones for something like $1.50 a plug or less around here.

 

I bought NGK Platinum's from autozone a few months ago for $1.95 each

Well my car is missing, so I am assuming it is the plugs or coil packs. Not sure which.

 

A misfire can be caused be more than just the plugs or coils. You could also be looking at injectors, wiring, ECU, CKPS'/CPS, etc.

I put some NGK V-power copper and gaped them 0.41. works great so far

 

I'd stay stick with OEM which is NGK. If you have your owners manual it actually tells you the exact part number you should use. The FSM also states which type.

Under $2 dollars a plug and i prefer them over plats. Yeah you have to change them out more often. But IMO changing out your plugs often is not a bad thing

 

Coppers all the way, change them every year for less than $10. (overkill, I know)

 

I spent almost $70 on NGK iridium plugs...

Next time pick up some brk5e(iirc) at fleet farm for about 2 dollars a pop. I always use them if i have missing problems. I just throw in all new plugs to eliminate the possiblity of a plug issue.

 

ive always goon NGK iridium love the way it ran + i was on a wet 100 shot so went extera n got them colder but ngk ftw

Don't even bother, just get some NGKs, problem solved.

 

NGK Platinums are the best and they come with the proper gap out of the box.
