Power Steering Pump Delimma

Right now I have my front struts/springs, LCA and axles completely removed from my car. My power steering pump had a small leak. The pump always looked wet but never dripped to the floor while parked. I'm contemplating whether to remove the pump and put in new seals/gaskets OR buy a re-built one. The reason I'm contemplating to put a re-built one instead is because I'd hate to use my original and sometime down the near or not so far future, it breaks. I'm thinking I have a hella a lot of room to work with now but later if and when my original breaks, I won't have as much room.

Locally, I can get a re-built pump for $190.00 (with core). I'm thinking I could get by with one for about $150 (including shipping) if I get it online

My car has 140k on the clock.

Thanks for any input.

Are you sure it's coming from the pump seal? Usually it's just the hose clamp on the back that leaks. If your powersteering isn't notchy in the morning, or creating excess whine from the pump at idle, and it's just a hose leaking I wouldn't bother.

Why would you not fix that problem?

Makes no sense.

To the OP, check where the leak is actually coming from.
The job is much easier while everything is apart.

Good luck!

I'm going to give it a good wash and see if I can pinpoint the leak. Thanks for the responses.
