The Auto Trunk Lock Kaput

Hi all,

I have a 2003 Max and my auto trunk release stop working. The relay will energize but the lock won't open.

To anyone with a diagram, is the fuel door and lock mechanism electrically on the same circuit? I think both of these devices use the same 15a fuse. If that's the case then I have a bad electric lock that need to be replaced. It looks like the solenoid is integral to the mechanical lock?

Thanks,
Royg

i think your switch is locked up. pop up your trunk and look at the bottom where you can see the mechanism. there is a switch on it and is right at the actuator.

K..I looked at the lock and the mechanical latch. The latch is fine and I can open the lock with my key.

This switch on the actuator, are u talking about the key lock?

Thanks,
Roymg

When the switch is locked, the only thing you can open your trunk is by using your key. the switch is where i circle yellow http://s204.photobucket.com/albums/b...DSC00519-1.jpg

Btw, you dont need to use bold and over size sentences. I CAN READ IT VERY CLEARLY

The easiest way to find the switch is by looking from the side. not from the top

Bingo...Got your picture and figured it out that the solenoid is located on the bottom part of the latch and not on the key lock. The latch had slip down to were it was not touching the above lock mech. This happen this weekend while caring some yard equip in my trunk using a bungee cord to hold the lid but I hit a bump and the top lid came down and I suppose cause the latch to slip. I did not know that until today.

You were right on and I guess u have seen the problem before.
Thanks again for your help and time

Roymg

Heck..looking back, there is a slot built in where u can put your finger on the lock mech. and u don't have to remove any trim to get to it. Duh!!
