Ipod configuration 2002 Maxima Se NO CD CHG BUTTON OR CHANGER

Hey guys, I posted this in the audio forum but figured this section is more active. I've been doing some searching and posting but really cannot get a bottom line answer.

I have a 2002 Maxima Se. My car has no CD CHG button and has no CD changer, neither stock nor aftermarket.

What are my options for ipod integration with my stock Bose headunit. Will the USA Spec or Neo Prolink models work? Or will I have to go with a hardwired FM modulator.

Any and all input is appreciated and welcome. Thank you very much guys.

So you have the standard bose single disc, not 6cd in-dash changer? USA Spec will not work at all with the in-dash changers, it requires the CD/CHG button. There is still some speculation as to whether or not the single disc in the 02s will work. Why not take the unit out and see what type of plugs are on the back? If there's no cd-changer port your definitely out of luck.

I'm not really the most mechanically inclined guy with that kind of stuff haha. Do you know if the FM modulator will work with my current stock set up?

I've heard that they are supposed to give cd quality sound too?

Yea it is the standard single disc.

Fm modulator will work but it won't give you anything close to CD quality sound.... Nothing beats hardwired for iPod.

Not sure if anyone has tried it yet, but you might be able to put an 01 headunit in your 02. That'd give you the external cd-changer button.

Has anyone had any luck with this? The tape deck option is terrible so is the fm transmitter.

Be bold and put a 5.0 gen headunit in it, see if that works.

If he does his stereo is not from an 02 as all Bose Maxima's from 02 up has the in dash 6disc changer.

There are many HUs that will control your iPod for under $300.

I have an Alpine IDA-X100 Digital Media Receiver, I don't miss CDs at all.

agreed i just got a new jvc HU from best buy $80 has tons of features i rarely ever use my cd player now that i have the aux input. IMO your better off buying a new HU then buying an adaptor for the stock stuff

just replace your headunit. $200 and you'll get a decent setup, but $100 will get you an ipod connection easy.

the only reason i haven't done it is because there are no custom bracket mounting kits for an I35, but there are plenty for the Maximas.

Tape deck option is CD quality sound, significantly better than the FM transmitter. However, in colder weather, the cassette adapter seems to freak out the cassette player and the adapter pops out and you get a TAPE ERR message.

However, now that the right channel is going out on my factory (base) HU (temperatures under around 85 only the A pillar tweeter works, above that all speakers work) I am going to put in an iPod ready aftermarket HU. Our cars are getting too old to keep putting in used factory HUs.

Before I upgraded my HU I was using a casette deck adapter and the sound quality was actually pretty good, no complaints. If you want to get a proper hookup you should just buy a new HU around $200 gets a decent one with ipod compatible.
