I keep reading mixed impressions of the seafoam and I think I am going to give it a try. I just want to get some numbers on opinions for a better comparison.

 

God, people have been using Seafoam for a decade or more. This is not new stuff people.

 

I know, but I just learned of it for the first time. Some opinions in the other thread made me a little skeptical

 

You didn't have "It works" choice. I've used it a few times without any trouble at all.

I like that your "No way!" option is qualified with "Tried it".

It seems most of the naysayers are sounding off on principle, not personal experience.

This should be an interesting poll.

I have not tried the product yet, but there are a number of members here in Toronto that have and have only good tings to say about the products ability to remove unwanted carbon deposit from inside the engine ... I do plan to give the product a try before my next oil change

 

I tried it on the Honda and it seems like it is idling worse than before.

 

honestly, if the car runs fine; good mpg, smooth. I wouldn't do it.

 

How is the BG 44K doing for you? Have you given updates yet?

As for seafoam, it will be a while before I try it again.

 

Over the last 5 days, I'm only 1/4 the way through the full tank, so it's too soon to have a decisive opinion.

However, in the last few days the car starts much more smoothly, which is odd. Since installing ES mounts this past spring, the car would start like a bucking bronco. It's not that way anymore. Coincidence?

 

It's just alcohol, light oil, and naphtha. Most gas is 10% methanol already. Oil doesn't really do anything. You can pour a little lighter fluid in (naphtha) if you think it might help.

 

In my experience my car did idle alot smoother. I also did gain a couple MPG's.

 

Just did it the other day and no problems, I didn't get much smoke either but anyhow it's fine....

 

Ive done it on a 87 300zx and it did wonders. I wouldnt do it if your car is working fine and there are no problems.

 

Did it to my 00 Maxima and it works. Of course there is the smoking part. I swear it looked like my car was on fire with the smoke it was shooting out. The car response alot better and i did see a little improvement on the gas. Change the oil right after using it.

 

Oh its works for sure! I've been using it for 5 oil changes. I would probably advise you to NOT use too much, I went a little crazy for the first few times and got my fuel filter clogged from too much stuff being cleaned from Seafoam being knocked from the lines and getting stuck in the fuel filter.

Not sure if thats really true but that is what the mechanic said, and so....

 

On the 5th Gen, the filter (strainer) is attached to the fuel pump, which is in the tank.

 

Are you telling us that after you did your n'th Seafoam treatment, you had *more* problems than you started with and you still recommend it?

I didn't get huge results in the gas tank, but later did the one where you suck it right into the intake, let sit, then rev up and run for a short sprint. A lot of smoke...a LOT of smoke. But it ran better immediately, more response from the pedal and smooth idle. Mileage was up about 2 mpg's on the highway, and about the same around the city.

This was on my 07 with about 23000 miles on it. I didn't think 23k was enough to have that kind of buildup, but alas it needed a cleaning.

I drink this for breakfast... it is a great product and it works, been using it for over 6 years now in my car with no issues....

 

I've tired in on Focus=worked, Escape=Worked great, Freestyle=worked ok, CRV=no diff. I guess it all depends on how easy it is to use a vacum hose to suck this stuff in. Some cars are better then others.

 

High quality 93 octane and a healthy dose of redline once in a while and you won't need cleaners like this. Unless your car have ridiculous amount of miles....

I tried it made my car idle very strange, engine light came on and everything after spraying it into the throttle body.
