2005 maxima transmission cooler?
A cooler engine means a cooler tranny ususally. A little bird landed on my shoulder the other day and told me there maybe be an aluminum radiator in about 2 months. Stay tuned for details.
isn't our current radiator aluminum? and plastic?
As for the cooler, it will only work if you do not have the heatsink type cooler. Not all 6th gen Maximas have the heatsink type. I for instance do not have the heatsink type and I have an 04 SE.

i was about to buy a koyo one from importrp. performance aluminum cooler or OE spec?
That is why I have an additive that is supposed to drop the temp. I think it's called Hyperlube or something like that. Was going to get Royal Puple additive but read reviews about how it changes temp only 1-2 degrees vice the stuff I have which was 8-10 degrees. An improved thermostat that opens at a cooler temp would help alot.

how hard is the install?
http://www.nismoparts.com/catalog/?section=829#1487 this is a good find. Good job Look-at-my-MAX. Not hard to install at all. Actually very easy. hose clamp removal and three bolts. Probably only need a couple rags for coolant, a pair of pliers, and a 10mm socket. 5 min job.

Just trying to get of hold of things here. So a tranny cooler will not work with our 05 5sp auto maximas? This thermostat would be an alternative? I tried looking for one on summit racing's website but couldn't find it.

I dont get it. You CAN install a tranny cooler on the 5at w/heatsink. Its been done before. Same 5AT as you maxes with the heatsink....

Couple years earlier I asked about installing a cooler and everyone said that it's not needed. Now we are talking about not being able to install one. What did I miss. Aftermarket tranny cooler can be added pretty much to any car if there are cooling lines available. My understanding is that our cooling lines hook up to the last "coil" in our OEM radiator which provides much less cooling then a dedicated tranny cooler, not too mention that the OEM radiator really shares the heat between your tranny and the engine.
