Need a new muffler... some suggestions?

So i need a new muffler, the current on i have is too "ricey".. i need would prefer something that can be mountain on the OEM mounts. Something that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Dual tip would be nice.
Something high flow.

everyone speaks of magnaflow ones but i cant find one for my car...

whats the greedy one everyone fuses about ?

cattman is way too pricey for me....

Well, there's always the OEM 5th gen one, but it takes a little work to get it in there. That and they'd either need to weld it to the b-pipe or weld a flange on there.

These guys are fanatics lol. I love it.

Listen bro...i jus got a new muffler put on my car and i wanted performance and didnt really care about sound. THere was nothing wrong with my exhaust except that i wanted a performance muffler to balance air flow since i have a cold air intake.

I bought a dynomax super turbo (street version) for 30 bucks on ebay. It added performance and no sound. Its for use with V6s. (u can check the webiste and specs and it will list various engine sizes and recommend a muffler). I put a resonator tip on it so i wd get a lil noise. I have a manual tranny and i can hear the muffler below 2500-3000 rpms. After that the enigne is louder cuz of the cold air intake (which is killer in the maxi!!!!). But the car definitely performed better w/ the dynomax.

I wd say to get the dynomax super turbo SPORT version if u want sound. If u still have the resonator try the dynomax super flo (which is more expansive but will give u even more sound). THe dynomax racing bullet may not be that loud if u still have the resonator but if u have removed it then dont get a racing bullet. After all Maxi's are classy and they are NOT hondas.

Sounds like you have the same problem I do. Read this thread and check the link out. It makes sense.

http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...reduction.html

There are 2 possible solutions, the first is a turbo exhaust. They are designed to eliminate sound, where other products are designed to produce heavy sound. Second, like the thread says, go back to stock. It will eliminate the sound and keep the stock mounts. Options for this include the 4th and 5 gen muffler, however, I'm not sure about the 5th gen mounts being the same.

Good luck.

5th gen mounts are close enough.. i have it on my other max... it takes some stretching of the rubber mounts to get it to work.

Bezerk, I think this guy isn't as concerned with noise as you are. If you're like us and you don't want to hear your car unless you're really on it then go OEM 4th or 5th gen.

If not and you don't mind a little noise then get a dynomax, there's quite a few people who have em on their cars and I've heard it in person, they're not too bad, but realise, any aftermarket option with the y-pipe will have a drone noise to it.

I realize that. My noise is really bad. 65 and I cant talk to my wife in the car. Thats why I'm concerned about noise, because its really bad. I want to be able to hear it. I've decided that I'm going to get the Dynomax Super Turbo muffler installed. Looks like a good option.

Ah! I see, you still want to hear your exhaust, you've made a good choice then, don't forget to post vids! See, I absolutely don't want to hear it lol, I have enough noise coming from the intake.

The dynomax super turbo is a fairly quiet muffler and I'm going to use it, or a Summit Turbo muffler (cheaper clone of the dynomax) on my Max.

The muffler gives MAYBE 1-2hp, and that's pushing it.

Just get one based on the sound.

Bear in mind...if u still have a resonator on the car then w/ a Dynomax Super Turbo (street version) u will barely hear any noise inside the cabin of the car. I suspect it would be louder if the resonator is removed..but it still wont be annoying. I suggested to get the Dynomax Super Turbo (Sport version) cuz it prolly be more satisfactory of u are lookin to hear some noise...but it will never be annoying.

Jus realize..there are 2 versions of the Super turbo: The street and the sport version. I have the street version w/ the resonator still installed.

Has anyone taken off the resonator and had problems w/ the CEL. I dont want to remove it then have to deal with that light. Hate seeing the CEL on.
