Just painted my roof spoiler - how to get that glossy look?
Hey guys, so I painted my roof spoiler myself. Got the primer, paint and clear coat from paintscratch.com. Well its painted but it doesnt have that glossy shiny look to fully match the car. Its painted sheer silver but it looks like a flat silver (like flat black). Did I do something wrong? Why does it look flat and not glossy?
I believe I have enough paint incase I need to do it over again. Thanks in advance for the help

When I got the roof of my car painted it looked just like what you described, flat. The body shop that painted it for me told me to come back a month later so that they could polish it. So a whole month of driving with a flat colored roof but they did make it shiny later.

thanks for the quick responses guys. So from what I gather, I didnt do anything wrong, rather I just have to wait and polish it? Can someone elaborate on this? Why do I have to wait so long though?
How do the bodyshops get things to shine like that? Certainly they dont wait that long to polish over the paint.

body shops use clear coat safe polishes and buff the new paint to a nice shine. the new paint needs a few weeks to dry. As it dries, it gets harder, but if you slap a polish on it right away, it won't have a chance to get as hard as it needs to.
The clear body shops use is very different that's available in the rattle cans. The results are usually night and day.
Ho many coats of clear did you apply? did you follow instructions carefully?
different manufacturers have different paints that might need different approach to getting superior results.
