How can I check to see if a new tire is bad.....
HI everyone,
I need some tire help. I had a set of Goodyear RS-A's on the front of my 96 Maxima, and Nexen tires on the rear on stock Nissan 16 inch 5 star wheels. With that set-up the car was fine, no vibration or anything. At the end of the summer I replaced the Goodyear's because they were worn. I put a set of BFG Traction T/A's on the front, and the Nexen's stayed on the rear. When the tires were changed I got a vibration. I went back to the tire shop to complain, so they balanced them again, to no avail!
When my regular mechanic did my brakes, he felt the new tire was "out of round". So back to the tire shop again! They now claim that I have a small bend on the inside of one rim, and that is the problem. Again with the old tires the car was perfect. The tire shop will not help, because they claim that the rim is the issue. So how can I determine if the BFG tires are defective?
Thanks,
Zack

Swap the rim in question with a rear rim? Have the shop verify that the rims in the rear are OK before they dismount and mount the tires.
How did that determine it's the rim? By eye?
Find a shop with a roadforce balance machine.
