Water In My Intake

Hey everyone, I have looked through the posts and found some good answers but my car did something a little diffrent.

I have a CAI and it sucked up some water while i was driving in the rain, it will start and idle good but wont rev over 2500 rpm.

I changed the plugs already and going to change the oil asap.

Any suggestions??

Thanks.

Possibly your MAF. Get a Multimeter and test it.

now, please i want an explanation. Why would you have a CAI on a max when it has been proven over and over that their completely worthless... Go back to a stock setup bro.. also you wont have to worry about not being able to drive in the rain.

Ive had 3 setups, **** waste of money if you ask me. Ive also spoken with plenty of people who've tried them. Same oppinon on their parts.. Also the noise they make is satisfying at first but begins to wear on you.

:EDIT: Im Stock Now.

Diddo with the K&N. (Just a drop in, but still is better than CAI)

I haven't had any probs with and clean it once a year even though I don't need to do it that frequently.

My question is why would you not throw a hydroshield over the filter? You would have never had to deal with this

just consider yourself lucky you only have to replace a MAF. You could have hydro locked it and destroyed your engine

not revving over 2500 rpm is the first sign of a bad MAF, and your lucky it didnt make its way into your engine ir you would be crying for an engine right now.

Here's your problem. Your intake isn't protected from your fender. It's out in the open.

I assume this is your ride.

Take a look at the 50 sec. mark. You can see the intake/filter exposed to all the elements. You have the fender style cold air intake, but you hooked it up incorrectly. Change ASAP so it doesn't happen again.

thank you dave. and for all you others who say the CAI is worthless, unless it is a PR CAI which this clearly is, then yes the piece of junk you had was worthless.

Jake95maxxi

dont take the cheap easy route cut the hole and install this thing the right way.

My intake sounds like a beast, I would never go back to stock. And its custom, i got the aluminim and a cone filter. I had a k&n filter a while back and it does no diffrent from a normal filter, just lasts longer.

So you all are saying if i get a new MAF this will fix my problem?

Yes, get a used MAF on here. They run about $50. New is like $300. Not reving past 2,500rpm is a sign of a bad MAF.

Also, you should still go back to stock intake. And use a Nissan OEM filter. Don't use K&N. I had one and it dirtied my MAF with it's oil (and it wasn't even after re-oiling - I was the first user of it). I stick to Nissan OEM filters for oil and air.

My engine roars plenty. Just get an exhaust to help it roar/get louder. That's actually a useful mod as opposed to a CAI.

I remembered reading somewhere what if you do get hydolocked, you can manually expel the water by putting your car in reverse, and then push it back to reverse the engine strokes so that the water get pushed out.

I don't remember the details of it, but I'm just putting this out there.
