rev limiter

Hello all, I have a 2k auto w/ 105k miles on it and recently it has started to bounce of the rev limiter at wot all on its own on the 1st to 2nd shift. Its only been doing it for a couple of weeks. With it came another thing, on the 2nd to 3rd shifts, the rpms spike up like 6 to 8 hundred rpms and then catch (slip?). Should I start looking for a new tranny or is it something else? Should i be concerned?

how bout the 1-2 shift on the rev limiter, is that caused by a bad transmission? I'm pretty sure its slipping but needed some feedback/confirmation

The tranny could be puked, but it sounds more like a bad shift solenoid. Is it throwing any codes? If the solenoids are ok, then it could be a sticky valve in the valve body. Have you ever had the trans serviced?

well i was driving home from work today and 3rd kept slipping really bad.....it wouldn't stay in gear per say meaning it would catch and slip constantly til if shifted to 4th. the tranny was serviced not long ago either. i have heard that if it hasnt been serviced like it should of, all the crap in the fluid is filling in the gaps of worn parts so if you change the fluid...well it fails shortly after. is there any truth in that?

if the solenoids are bad, is it gonna be better to replace the transmission? im not sure on the codes, my ses light has been on for a while with cat failure/o2s

I would suggest thaking the car to SEVERAL shops. There are too many shops that say you need a rebuild and just put in a rebuild kit which does not include the solenoid valves. You will also be amazed at the difference in prices for the same job.

Also, if your only choice is AAMCO Transmissions, buy a new car and save yourself the grief and misery.
