wanting to delete a vacuum hose...what size filter?

(pardon the newbness)

i'm looking to get rid of the hose circled in red:

what size filter do i need for the valve cover side, and what do i do with the intake resonator? should i just get a straight pipe for that?

will this help reduce the chance of oil getting into my intake manifold?

(EDIT: the spectre filters my particular ORLY's carries is too small)

u can get one at autozone or advanced auto ect ect, they usually have them in the ricer isle its just an little breather no special size needed. ive see them used all the time. i plan on doing the same thing and eliminating that ugly a$$ box as well when i go back to my summer short ram intake setup. u can get a straight piece that has adapters to run the smaller lines into it from there as well. i wana find a nicer pipe than the one they have tho

Tyler....newbie....naw man! Lol.

What are u tryin to do with the stock intake. What happened to the hose.
The other post is right, u can buy a lil breather for the front valve cover. Jus try to get the right size clamp for it.

If the breather filter dont fit, get some replacement tubing and the right size clamp. Thats what i had to do cuz my short ram was screwed iup (long story). Remember to get metric tubing. English units closest fit 5/8" Inner dia is too small and couldnt find 6/8" ID.

They are filters so they filter air.

U dont need it. Tyler did something with his tube, maybe lost it or broke his.

Someone used it on their car cuz there short ram intake from the seller was fabricated really crappy and the buyer needed to improvise the installation. IIRC, the breather filter fell off cuz it doesnt really fit well.

Eliminating that hose will cause a vacuum leak and oil mist will still enter the intake manifold via the PCV valve.

I can't count the amount of maxima's I've seen at meets that had a filter there but the pcv line was still running to the manifold, you need to put a filter on the rear valve cover also & cap the line that runs from the rear valve cover/pcv valve to the intake manifold.

Either way there is NO good reason to do this unless you are FI, in which case it is almost a requirement unless you want boost & oil leaks up the wazoo from pressurizing you crankcase.
