Help! Bald Fuel Injector Screw :-(

Hi guys, I'm in the process of replacing my cylinder 3 fuel injector, I already got the UIM off (thanks to the helpful writeup written by ATTappman) and managed to get one of the fuel injector screws off, but the other one is severely bald and even with a screw remover it seems to only be getting worse. I tried ratcheting it out with the screw remover while putting downward pressure on it but no luck. I will try using a power-drill to drill it out, can anyone offer any further suggestions?

I think I'm gonna call it a day here though. I will keep working on it tomorrow or sometime on the weekend. Can't wait to get my MAX back on the road.

Problem is it's not a bolt, it's a screw. Will that really work on a screw?

Update!

Finally got that f*cking screw off

The drill/screw remover didn't work for sh*t, all it did was strip the screw even more. So I used some vice grips (thanks for the suggestion guys)

Once those screws were off I replaced them with a pair of 8mm bolts (let's see that try and get stripped!).

Then I moved on to remove the fuel injector with the vice grips it actually came out a lot easier than I expected just grabbed it by the head and pulled it straight up.

I will replace the gaskets and put the Max back together tomorrow

Thanks for all the help guys.

Next time try an impact drive. You place a phillips bit in the chuck and strike the back with a hammer. It rotates as you strike it. Works amazing on stuck fuel injector screws.
I've done the vice grip thing to, but this works much better and never damages the screws.

And if you cant find a hammer, just smash it with a rock.

This is what mine looked like for my injectors...The metal was so soft that i could use a Phillips head screw driver and a rubber mallet and hammer in new grooves for the head. I got tired of trying to get it loose and just got my vice grips...put'em on tight and gave it a good twist
