can a bad wheel bearing cause locking brakes?

i have a 97 gxe auto with 180k

i've done the following.

replaced front struts / mounts (shop)
fixed ps fron slide pin / replaced ds caliper, also replaced brake pads.(diy)

hard braking from lets say 50mph causes front ps brake to lock. (but not at speeds lower than 40mph)
light braking at high speeds makes the front brakes make warped rotor sound(which may be the case b/c the front rotors were not replaced)

i also get a vibration at 60+mph (replacing tires helped but still noticeable)
there is a slight a-rhythmic thump when going over speeds of 70mph...

any experience shared would be appreciated.

thanks

you should probably have just done an actual brake job rather than a "poor mans" (excuse the terminology no disrespect) brake job.. our calipers are PITA's. Id say to Replace all the Rotors and Calipers, or at least the Calipers... But. If the problem lies within the Master Cylinder... well i think you get the point.. You probably need a Alignment if your getting a vibration over 70.. and the Thump could be Sway bar end links.. idk what this thump sounds like so dont hold me to it..

i do think that changing 3 calipers, 2 rotors, 4 pads and 2 guide pins / caliper mounts as pretty extensive.

but well noted your point. i won't know for sure without the rotors being replaced...

sway bar endlinks were done as were swaybar mounts(ES polyurathane)

when i say thump at high speeds, its a constant thump (very weak sounding rumble) every 1/2~1 sec.... this is the reason i am suspecting a possible wheel bearing failure...

could be your wheel bearing but to check that jack your car up, and move the wheel around with the tire still on and see if you have play if you do then it's your wheel bearing. Did you also replace your strut bearing? when you did mounts?

A wheel bearing makes a constant groan which changes is sound when the load changes.
A warped rotor, which is the source of your vibrating brakes will cause the pad to hang in the area where the pad grabs the rotor with more force. Which in turn is the actual cause of your vibration. Makes sense that if the rotor is damaged you can have a brake grab hard enough to cause the wheel to stop rotating.

Rule of thumb, change your rotors when you replace your pads. Their cheap (you don't need drilled slotted BS) and are the heart of smooth brakes.

Here's a good read about "warped rotors"

if you're rotors have not been changed since 180k, i suggest you change them immediately. Your rotors are probably so thing, they might be unsafe to drive on. If they havn't been changed, your rotors are definately warped. what kind of thump is it? is it just going over 70 mph, or going over bumps, when your car bounces up and down a little? gotta be more specific in order for us to pin point. is it comoing from the back, middle, what it sounds like.....

1. Get your wheels balanced.
2. Check your wheel bearings.
3. Replace brake rotors.
4. Bleed brake lines.
5. Get alignment.
6. Bed-in new brake pads.

You better check that the shop mounted those springs/shocks properly, that might be the source of your "croak."

It sounds like you have a seized PS caliper, might as well replace that too.
