01 SE Alarm goes off every 30 minutes, removed fuse already

We have an '01 Maxima which we just drove home this weekend (a few hundred miles, NH to MA).

Immediately after getting home and unloading the car (note: all doors, and trunk were opened at some point during unloading... if stuck door/trunk switches have anything to do with it), the alarm started going off about every 30 minutes.

We unlocked it, opened all the doors and checked the switches (is there a trunk switch? or is it detected by the locking mechanism?), also opened/closed the hood.

It continued to sound every 30 minutes, so we searched online (and these forums), found some possible causes, and planned on removing the "Anti-Theft" 10A fuse from the engine compartment on the drivers-side fuse box until we narrow down the actual cause.

We didn't give it another thought (that was yesterday), until I just got home and pulled up next to the 01 maxima and saw that its headlights were flashing (yes, the alarm was going off, with no sound.. just headlights blinking.)

I checked the interior fuse box and all the fuse boxes in the engine compartment and there are no other anti-theft/security labeled fuses, only the "Anti-Theft" 10A fuse on the drivers-side engine compartment fuse box, which is removed.

This is a factory alarm, and we do have an aftermarket remote starter installed (which we have never had a problem with).

What can be causing it to go off?

And, how can the alarm possibly be going off with the Anti-Theft fuse pulled out? The keyless entry still works, but there is no horn beep when locking the car (i.e. alarm is not armed)

Any ideas?

my neighbor had the same problem and it was that the battery on the car itself was dying.
