When i got into my car today i went to open the sunroof and the regular pull back control wouldn't work, so i checked the other button that cracks open the sunroof and every time i clicked it it opened the sunroof a little more, as the pull back switch would usually do. I got the sunroof closed and tapped the controls a few times and now they seem to work fine. I just wondered if anyone else had experienced this and if it was a precursor to future problems. Thanks for any help!

 

Sounds like it needs to be reset, here's the procedure:

Thanks for the help, after that it seems to work fine and i did recently reset the battery. I'll definitely remember that for next time as well

 

completely close sunroof
disconect - connector on battery
wait 30 seconds
reconnect - battery cable
sunroof memory has been reset
sunroof will now work normaliy

Off topic, but only slightly - Is there window memory by chance? My passneger side window auto-up puts up the window, then rolls it back down several inches (typical 5.5 gen issue) but for whatever reason it refuses to reset no matter what up/down/reset combos I try - if there's a way to totaly reset the windows similar to the roof, I'd be very happy. The reset button inside the driver door worked fine the 1st time I had to reset it, but now its useless.

 

did you make sure there isnt anything in the track? if you put it up not using the auto does it do the same thing?

 

Only does it with the auto up function, and I have actually taken the door panel off recently to check to make sure nothing is in the way - which there isnt. Seems to slide on its track just fine.

 

there is a reset for the window but it's behind the door panel.

 

It happens to my 02 every time I disconnect the battery for working on the car. Reset it and I'm good to go (until the next time).

 

The window reset procedure is supposed to fix that. When doing the reset, make sure you aren't pushing the up/down button all the way into "auto" mode. You only push the up/down half way.

I need to try this tommorow. After I got done upgrading my stereo my sunroof now only works off the tilt switch. I t worked perfectly before so hopefully this resolves my issues. Thank you for the info, hopefully it works!
