Sunroof "slide switch" not working, but "toggle" is

Hey guys, it's been like 5 months since I've opened the sunroof but I went to open it and the slide doesn't open or close the sunroof anymore. I can only get it to open or close when I use the toggle. Is this a known thing? Would I need to replace the whole assembly? Thanks!

i just had this happen myself, i tapped the controls a few times and it worked lol, but i was told that in order to fix it you should use the toggle switch to open the sunroof all the way then use it to close it all the way and that is supposed to fix it. hope this helps!

Thanks, but I tried that and it didn't work. I did try tapping it also and nothing. So can I just replace the switch or do I need to do the whole assembly?

Did you disconnect your battery at all within the last 5 months? I had to reset my sunroof when I bought my car because of this same symptom. Get it to the closed position and then hold the close button for like 5 or 10 seconds. It may differ for your year maxima so check your owners manual but that should be all you need to do.

I believe I did when I installed my new headlights. So you're saying to hold the toggle switch for 5 to 10 seconds the way I would close it and the slide should work??

press and hold the close lever for like 5 seconds with ignition on and it will reset and work, may have to do it few times

Yeah it's the button closer to your windshield.

I have an 03 and recently had the battery and alternator replaced and also had to reset the sunroof to get it to open, simply hold the close function for 5-10 sec. you may hear a couple of clicks as I did which is the unit resetting, I then pushed the open function and away went the sunroof just as it always has for me. So give it a try it is a simple reset function, also it wouldn't hurt that once it has open to apply a bit of grease to the slides.

Mine does this all the time. I reset it and it works again (everytime).
