G8 GT vs Maxima (repost from dif. forum)

Copied from the G8 forum, g8board.com. I LOVE IT

G8 GT vs. Nissan Maxima? I laughed, was that wrong?

SO I have to drive good old mom to the hospital for her eye docters apt and then get to just hang out for an hour or so but I decide hey, its a nice day and I'm gonna enjoy it, so off for a cruise I go. Now I'm just cruising around nowhere to go really just enjoying the sunshine on my face, the fresh air, the road and the music when I stop for a red light and up next to me pulls this Maxima with what looks like 4 kids/"straight up gangstas" in it with Flava Flav all leaned back ready for a nap driving it. Well the light goes green and I take off like I always do, you know nothing that would get me a ticket and BUUUUUUZZZZZZZZZZZZZ there goes Flava Flav in the gansta mobile, I chuckle and shake my head but hey, kids, what can you do right? The next 4 red lights go much the same way but this time he rolls his window down and yells over to me "Yo, you wanna race that old mans car, old man?" I look over at him, then look at his car, then look at the kids in it and back to him and just laugh. At first he has this puzzled look on his face like "WTF?" Then he yells again "Yo man what you think so funny yo? I'll spank dat *** *****!" Then its a round of high 5's in the gangsta mobile and the light goes green and they go buzzing away at a blistering rate and the passenger starts waiving his hand out the window motioning me to come on come on, but I resist. The next to the last light and he starts acting like a real dousch, "I told you I'd spank dat *** ***** in your slow *** punk piece of sh*t car. You don't want to mess with my bad *** Max ***** cause you just can't hang!" Well that did it, I was trying to be nice but this little dousch nozzel needed to be taught a little lesson. This time when the light turned green I planted my right foot to the floor board, pitched the rear end sideways a little and smoked the tires off the line and was gone! Next red light, not a word from Flava Flav nor any of the gangsta crew, just looks of awe from everyone but the driver. I beep the horn, he looks over and in my best mocking imitation of him I go "See ***** now you KNOW whats up, now you KNOW why I be laughin at your *****, punk *** self in that beat to sh*t piece of crap Max" He looked like he would cry, his friends were all laughing at him and pointing at me and slapping him in the head. The light turned green and they took off with a buzz and left me, once again in the dust laughing my *** off and shaking my head.

There would be something wrong with you if you didn't laugh. Glad to see someone from g8board.com got the "Dbag of the Day" award. That guy owes me for the time it took me to read that stupid ****. Or maybe avciugroar does?

WTF... a G8 GT will most likely spank a stock maxima.... however a modded 6spd vs a stock G8 will give it the bizniz..... G8 GT (only available in Auto "so idk why he made his model G8 seemed extra sporty") is a 13.5 stock, unless its the G8 GXP then thats 13.0 stock, and a maxima with 4 kids "gangsta" (i bet cause they are black and is playing rap music )

G8 GTs also have rear-wheel drive and a 6.0 V8 compared to our 3.5 V6.

I love the G8s personally.

Retarded kids in the Max need to shut their mouths, though. Instigating a race like that is retarded.

Of course, douche in the G8 was no better coming back at them and mocking them afterward.

All-in-all, I'd say this post was a total douche-fest.

I agree, but at the same time... I just put myself in that scenario... If I were driving a car I knew was faster and had held off once already from laying into them. I probably would've been lipping them back the 2nd time around too :P

It's only bad b/c the guy actually had it in him to remember it--

It's like, hey guys...I beat a guy driving a Camry today...I had to let him know 'what time it was'

I don't know what funnier the out come of the race, or the fact they actually baited the guy into racing them and he feel for it. I guess the Flavor Flav thing means that they were black too, so he has that going for him... Alotta douches there.

lol, seems legit to me. funny that someone would think an NA max with 4 people in it could take a G8 GT. there are a lot of max's on here that would give that G8 a run or kill it, but none of those people would be racing with 4 people in the car

<<<<---would have mocked them too for being tards, or just stopped at the light and looked over until it turned green

So what was the point of that, of course u should have beat them. One person in a G8 GT vs a maxima with 4 people in it. Is that even a race. If u didn't win that would have been embarrasing!!!!

You are on crack. A STOCK G8 GT has 355hp, if you want the GTP version, that has 415. You would have to have a very highly modded Max to even come close to a G8 GT.

Weight + auto = not fast

It's advantage is traction. From a roll, I don't see it winning against simple bolt ons. But to race one from a stop light is retarded (even more so with passengers).

And with people that can't drive (ie these magazine guys) a couple bolt ons with good tires would beat it http://blogs.insideline.com/straight...iac-g8-gt.html

This is embarrassing for ford and GM. Those times sound low to me, but if this is how the avg guy and car performs, there's gonna be a lot of upsets when they get beat haha

Theres more to life than horsepower ratings. In the G8's case, that comes in the form of 3800lbs and an auto trans. A 6-spd 5.5gen with bolt ons would be able to hang from a roll easily. Most boosted/nitrous max's should be faster and a number of NA VQ35 max's would be faster (also a select few highly modded VQ30's)

i dunno about from a roll thou, atleast in the higher speeds, the G8 really starts to move once out of the lower gears. i had a rental and me and my friend in a modded 350Z were going back and forth, his only chance was from lower speeds.

Those guys in that forum certainly are proud of his kill.

But the more and more I read into the thread, the more it makes me want to give the guy a thumbs up. It sounds like this kid in this Maxima was a goon.

People like that are the kind that give real enthusiasts bad raps.

Yup.

I can't believe the number of Maximas that show up on here and expect us to think their Maxima "SE-R" with an R-34 body kit is hawt stuff.

Its funny how people are crazy to believe that stock for stock, any generation Maxima could take a G8 GT.

Now if we talking modded vs. modded.....G8 is in a different league. This is coming from an owner of both a Maxima and a G8.

I am actually surprised that everyone is taking this so personally. There seems to be a tremendous amount of misinformation here. There is simply no way stock for stock any gen maxima is going to come close to a stock G8 GT. The G8's have a tremendous amount of aftermarket available to them. A simple tune and CAI gives them 35hp/tq. It's an LSx variant engine for pete's sake!

pontiac badge kills it for me... if it had vauxhall or holden on it then it would be a different story. It is a fantastic car though.
Isnt the G8 Gt somewhere around 350hp? The V6 model would be a pretty good matchup against the Maxima.

Pontiac has always been one of my favorite domestic companies. I loved my Trans Am for the short time I had it. It's too bad GM decided to send them south in favor of Buick.

The V6 is a 256 HP 3.6L. Of course, GM has always underrated their cars, so it'd be best if a V6 owner who has had theirs to the dyno could give us some insight.

Having test-driven a V6, I can say they feel a bit on the heavy side, but they still have quite a bit of pep to them. I think a simple bolt-on G8 V6 vs. a simple bolt-on 5.5 gen 6MT would be a fun show.

Price is my biggest issue, too. If I ever had the opportunity to pick up a GT even for a fair price, I'd ditch the Max and not look back.

I've loved the G8 since the day I saw the spy shots in some of the car magazines.

IMO, it's kind of a slap in the face to GM when its Aussie sister company can design cars that sell better in the U.S. than GM's designers can.

Regardless of whether the G8 is equipped with an LS or not, the average driver thinks about style over power.
