I got a set of 18 350z rims. 18x8 30mm front and 18x8.5 33mm back. I mounted the back w/o tire for test fit and it comes close to the fender. Any 5th gens with 350z rims? Any rubbing? Should i roll my rear fenders?

 

You may need to roll the front section of the fender. The geometry of the suspension pulls the wheels forward just as much as vertically. BUT if you keep with a 245/40 or 235/40 you wont have to roll anything.

 

shouldnt have any problems. stock wheels are 7.5" +35 without even a mad chance of rubbing. Why are you putting 8.5" wheels in the back though? find some fronts and use those, youre only adding rolling resitance

 

i just put on some 18in 350z wheels on my maxima it comes close but it clears im running 245-45-18 on the back and it only rubs if im go over speed bumps or dips in the road other that that its good to go. dont roll ur fenders

Nope, I got mine on with 245-40-18. Dropped on progress which is pretty low in the rear. ABout a finger length, no rubbing issues.

 

Since the Maxima is FWD, wouldn't it be better to but the wider wheels in the front?

I only have 5-10 mm to the lip of fender. I plan to put 245 40 18 on rear and 235 40 18 on front. Pros of rolling would give maybe 5-10mm I don't have a rear sway so any hard turns may rub??!?!?!


I would put it on front but it would look funny and I do not want to lose my turning radius. Its already reduced.... Falken RT-615 should still give me the bite I need. I get good bite now with stock 16's 225 with yoko sdrives.


What are you rubbing on? Inside fender well or fender lip? You say bumps so it sounds like ur well.

Are you running 8 or 8.5 in rear?

 

Maybe this will help or maybe not but I am running a 19x8.5 with a 35mm offset plus 5mm spacer so a 30mm offset with a 245/35/19 and i am fine. It was rubbing on that little tab in the rear fender which was part of the bumper. BTW i am on tein ss coilovers

 

I know there are many who do not have rubbing issues. However, I am running stock SE suspension with 18" 350z mags and 245x40x18's and have had ONE experience of rubbing. I was traveling and took a dip in the road too fast, result was the suspension dropped in the rear and rubbed the inside lip of the fender. Marked up about 18" of the tire on the outside portion of tread.

Didn't do any damage to the fender or tire, but I realized that if I ever choose to lower the car, I would have to be more mindful about clearance and rubbing under certain conditions.

If my tires were a little narrower, I don't think it would have rubbed. I just saying that in my experience, it is possible to rub. I would just consider getting a narrower tire.

 

Just roll them. It isn't that hard.

I have the 8.5 in the rear... No rub.. Rear is a finger length between tire and fender. I honestly don't think you'll need to worry. Get tires, but them on. and you'll be fine. I was riding around on blown struts with this setup and still didn't rub.

 

I have 225/45/18 in front and 245/40/18 running on stock height and have no rubbing issues. When I had 245/45/18 in the rear I had a potential for rubbing but I bent up the area where the fender meets the bumper screw point. I barely could fit my finger between the tire and the edge of the fender. I also had to cut/shave off a little of the bumper in the wheel well. It didn't rub then ether. Other than that I plan to roll on Eibachs and Tokico Blues in the near future. So far so good. Just use your judgement.

 

I have 350z touring18's and I don't rub at all. I'm not lowered yet but still it should be ok. My rears are 245/45/18's and it's just fine. I guess it will depend on how low youre gonna go.

 

Hey, I have 2006 M45 wheels with a 50mm off set, 8.5 inches wide on 245/45/19 tires with an H&R drop. The back tucks a little with no rubbing issues but barely clears. Fenders look untouched ( Metal Maxima's old car) You should be ok.

 

You wont rub the fender.
No need to roll it.
If you rub it will be on the inner wheel well.
Spacers will fix it.
I got same set up... 350z 8.5"s in the rear with 245/40's and only rub well on bumps

 

For what it's worth, the track of the Maxima is narrower in rear than front, so putting the wider rims on the rear helps even out the contact patches a little bit.

 

Got my tires on. It rubbed =(. Had to roll the backs. Here are some pics with the new rims =)

 

Hey guys, I managed to snag a rare set of 350Z 35th Anniversary Edition wheels too (they're even rarer up here in Canada).

One question: I can re-use my lug nuts and Nissan locking wheel nut with these Z wheels, or do I need to buy separate lugs from the stealership?

Hope to get your confirm before I slap them on tomm. I'm running P235/40R18 on my 2003.

Well I have 235/45/18 up front and 255/40/18 on the back and I don't rub at all on stock suspension.

 

That is because your vehicle is not lowered.

Unfortunately I do rub with the 350z track wheels and rolled fenders. I'm running 245/40-18 all around and the back and front rub on big bumps.

 

Depends on the tire brand. I’ve used 2 different brand tires (same size) and one barely rubbed on one side (need to fix my beam) and the others were like riding on the fenders, every other pebble would rub.

This set-up is with 18x8.5 +33 all around and 5mm spacers in front and 15mm in back. That was fine for the ‘thinner’ tire. For the set of tires that rubbed most, I had to go to 10mm spacers in the rear, fronts were fine.

The tab that connects the bumper to the body is the biggest problem. Before I ground that down I would run sometimes with 2 passengers, now I only rub with 3 passengers if I take a big bump too fast.

Rolled my Fenders today, world of a difference! No more rub with passengers. anyone on wide wheels and tires has to do it!

 

These are some sweet wheels and they slowly grew on me this past summer. I also got a lot of compliments, and really love the OEM look.

I may like to do a drop next summer. Do you guys think H&R springs (1.6 F and 1.4 R) would work with these wheels. I don`t know of anyone on here who has our wheels with H&R springs.
