vq35 disapearing oil??

so i got rear ended.

anyway, after the accident idrove it home, it was still driveable then, and parked it. i left about an hour later to go pay some bills down the street and my car was overheating at lights but when i drove it was fine. so when i got back home about 30 minutes later i checked all my fluids and noticed i was pretty low on coolant and my oil was BARELY showing on my dip stick. there was no puddles under car at all besides a few drops of tranny fluid which ive been leaking since i did my swap.

so i took my sisters car to walmart picked up some oil and coolant and fill everything up. it took half a gallon of coolant and almost 3 quarts of oil. then i drove it around to see if it fixed my overheating issue and it did.

i parked it and about 6 hours later i went out and checked fluids again, i was a lil low on coolant and my oil was gone!!! there was a little puddle of coolant but no oil anywhere!!

so i took it to work, got it on a lift and checked for oil leaks and found none... so where the hell is it going?????

theres no puddles, no smoke while driving, the coolant isnt mixed and neither is the oil, but when i drive it i can smell a burning smell out of my vents.

help me out here someone. i believe the coolant leak is my waterpump but that doesnt tell me anything about my oil loss. anyone?

If the car is running hot, it is going to use more oil. Have the car checked out when you take it to a body shop, could be the impact from the accident caused some problems up front too, maybe shifting stuff around enough the cooling fans cut the radiator or something like that.

My son had a similar issue on his 2001 Dakota truck, he would put in 2 ltr of oil and a day or two later have to do it again. Same as you no drips, no puddles ... he took it in for service and the engine was all gunk up and when the mechanic lifted is intake manifold he noticed it weight several lbs heavier than expected ... guess where all his oil was sitting ... yup the intake manifold was full of, all due to the engine having so much gum and gunk inside.

So you may want to check inside the IM and see what you have sitting in there.

Nope all is good now, but my son does pay alot more attention to oil changes correctly and running the proper fuels to help keep the engine internals cleaner.

Perform a coolant system pressure test and a leakdown test on the engine that should answer all your questions!
